šŸ“– The Light Remains by Samantha Keller
šŸ“– Art Cure by Daisy Fancourt

We’re diving into Friday with three fabulous new books!

šŸ“– Rory: The Heartache and Truth of Golf’s Most Human Superstar.
Arguably the sport’s most eloquent ambassador and a transcendent talent, McIlroy remains a complex and vulnerable sporting hero.

Biographer Alan Shipnuck examines his prolific career, including his vociferous stance on the LIV tour, his many golfing demons and phenomenal Masters win.

šŸ“– Colm Toibin’s The News from Dublin is a collection of beautiful short stories about ā€˜the complexities of family, longing, loss and love.’

Told with powerful restraint, the nine stories cross eras and nations from Ireland and Spain to Argentina and the US.
A poignant must-have from one of our favourite authors.

šŸ“– Statecraft by Jack Watling is a timely non-fiction read. It examines the world’s intense competition for power, and asks how do smaller states shape world events when dwarfed by superpowers.
From Iran to the Ukraine, the Arctic to Taiwan, it’s a compelling framework for understanding an increasingly divided world.

šŸ”„ Hope Rises is Baldacci’s heart-stopping new thriller and the sequel to Nash Falls.

ā€˜The once gentle and sensitive Walter Nash has transformed himself into something he never thought he’d be. Lethal.
And now he has only one goal: taking down master criminal Victoria Steers.’
Expect killer twists and heroes to believe in.

šŸ”„ Lynda la Plante’s Sacrifice is the latest in the unputdownable DC Jack Warr series.

ā€˜Warr leads Scotland Yard’s fledgling anti-fraud unit, and its survival hinges on exposing a suspected forgery - a multimillion-dollar masterpiece.

When his informant is brutally murdered, Jack’s hunt spirals into obsession.’

We’re celebrating 30 years as the Home of Fine Books! 🄳

To mark our birthday edition, a group of serial book lovers gathered at CanD’s Kitchen.
Ahead of the Springbok Wellington, John devised a delightfully tricky quiz based on The Book Cottage’s top sellers of the last two decades.

After much debate and hilarity, here are the Top Five:

1 The President’s Keepers
2 The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse
3 My African Conquest
4 The Promise
5 The Book of Joy

With trademark understatement, John shared some lovely stories, and some noteworthy Book Cottage trivia too:

āœšŸ¼The shop sold 60 000 newspapers and 50 000 postcards in the last two decades

āœšŸ¼ In 2006, a delivery to The Book Cottage included In Praise of Slow.
20 years later, we’ve received orders for The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry ā˜ŗļø

A big thank you to Team CanD’s Kitchen for hosting our special supper.
And especially to all our loyal customers, who continue to support a much-loved bookshop on High Street šŸ“š

Espie’s stories are about ā€˜ordinary characters who do dark things for the right reason.’

šŸ” Wild Things Never Die by
