Some commutes are a little more memorable than others.

On our way home from work and school this evening, we stopped to watch this beautiful zebra as the sun dipped behind it.

The days are getting shorter, the evenings cooler. Winter has arrived in the bush, bringing with it some of the most beautiful golden light.

But High Tea with Elephants actually began as a passion project — a place to celebrate the beauty, creativity and spirit of Africa through safari, design, art, interiors and storytelling.

Over the years, that passion evolved into a retail shop, a design studio and the opportunity to design beautiful homes, safari lodges and spaces inspired by the places we love most.

Father’s Day is just around the corner, and we’re celebrating the dads whose hearts belong to Africa.

The fathers who find joy in early morning game drives and who never tire of a dusty road.

This photograph was taken on the shores of Lake Manyara in Tanzania, where my husband shared a moment with our son and our Maasai guide. A love for Africa is one of the greatest gifts we can pass on to the next generation. If you’re looking for the perfect Father’s Day gift, visit us in our Hoedspruit shop.
