Natural ingredients nurture the skin with wholesome nutrients that the body chemistry is familiar with, thus working in harmony with the body. We believe that natural ingredients must come from a renewable and plentiful resource found in nature, yet with absolutely no petroleum compounds. NATURAL PROCESSES
Ingredients are only a part of what makes a product natural. We keep to minimum, if any processing, including distillation, condensation, extraction, steaming, pressure cooking and hydrolysis. Primitive people recognised and used beeswax and honey as an antiseptic aid for healing wounds. The honeybee secretes beeswax to build the walls of the honeycomb. When wax is secreted by the bee it is a transparent colourless liquid, which later turns into a semi-solid substance on contact with the atmosphere. WHY HONEY IS GOOD FOR YOU
• Honey is a great source of simple sugars, minerals and vitamins.
• Honey provides fuel to the brain and energy as well as aiding digestion.
• Honey acts as a sedative, relieving insomnia.
• Despite being sweet, honey blocks the growth of oral bacteria and tooth decay.

Propolis is the resinous material gathered by honeybees from flowers and leaf buds of various plants. It is used mainly to disinfect and waterproof the hive. Propolis contains a variety of pharmacological and biological properties. The most important properties of Simply Bee products are the anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, and anti-viral properties. Simply Bee is a family orientated business! Our dad, Derick Hugo started with beekeeping in 1954 and kept it as a hobby that grew into a business in 1994 when he and our mom, Marie returned to Hopefield to retire. Deafness doesn't look the same for everyone.

And there is no single way to be deaf, communicate, or experience the world.

Some deaf people use sign language.
Some use spoken language.
Some use both.
Some use hearing aids or cochlear implants.
Some use no hearing technology at all.

For some, Deafness is an important cultural and linguistic identity. For others, their experience may be centred around hearing technology, spoken language, or a combination of different ways of communicating.

There is no one right way.

This is something we think is especially important for the wider hearing community to understand.

A child using hearing technology may still find it difficult to follow a conversation in a noisy classroom.

A child who signs may need the people around them to understand how to communicate with them.

A child may communicate differently in different environments — or their preferences may change as they grow.

What matters is that children have access to language, communication, education, connection and the support they need to thrive.

And that we listen to the individual child rather than making assumptions based on how they communicate.

This Deaf Awareness Month, we're not trying to tell anyone what deafness should look like.

We're simply hoping to create a little more understanding, respect and inclusion.

Because sometimes the best place to start is by asking:

September is Deaf Awareness Month, and once again, Olipop Toyshop and Simply Bee are joining forces to give back💛

For the past few years, we have donated 10% of our online sales throughout September to organisations and initiatives supporting deaf and hard-of-hearing children and their families.

Over the years, these donations have helped schools such as Carel du Toit Centres and Whispers Speech and Hearing Centres receive LMH sound sets, resources used regularly to help children and educators check access to important speech sounds through their hearing technology.

Last year, our donations went to Hi Hopes, supporting their early intervention work with deaf and hard-of-hearing children and families in South Africa.

Simply Bee has also supported some very special milestones along the way, including being the biggest sponsor of South Africa's first Cochlear Implant Family Day, organised by Little Hearo and Olipop Toyshop, as well as helping the two moms behind those organisations attend a Family-Centred Early Intervention conference in Austria.

This year, we're shifting our focus slightly.

We want to help create greater understanding and inclusion in the wider community, in classrooms, libraries and everyday spaces where deaf and hard-of-hearing children grow up.

Because deafness looks different for everyone.

And understanding that is an important part of inclusion.

This year, our grandson/son started Grade 1 at a new school, Heritage House, which also started a library. We would love to help fill that library with books that include deaf and hard-of-hearing representation.

And if we are fortunate enough to raise more than we need for this collection, the remaining funds will be donated to another local school.

10% of all online sales from Olipop Toyshop and Simply Bee throughout September will go towards this initiative.
