Fish of the day:
Corydoras

Corys are peaceful that will scavenge and sift through the substrate of your aquarium all day looking for leftover food. But that doesn't mean you do t need to feed them! They enjoy algae and sinking wafers as well.

They are fun to watch, sporting cute, playful little faces and barbells, sometimes playing up and down the sides of your aquarium. They don't like to be alone, and are best kept in groups of 6 or more.

Fish of the day:

AROWANA

There are about 8 different species of Arowana, found in different parts of the world.

Labeled as part of the "monster fish" group, it is a very large carnivorous fish, ranging from 90cm up to 1.2m! They are graceful, aggressive and beautiful.

I'm lucky enough to own a South American Arowana, named Gandolph. He is about 45cm, and a very gentle soul. We have a close bond, and he comes to me when I call him, and let's me stroke him. He's diet consists of dubia roaches, raw chicken, Hikari Jumbo Carnisticks and snails.

Sooooo.... Fish only grow to the size of the tank, right?

Wrong!!!

Fish that are kept in a too small aquarium, become stunted, are more susceptible to diseases, and have a shorter lifespan.

A very simplified way of explaining, is to say the organs keep on growing while the fish do not. As I said, very simplified explanation.

Is there absolutely any evidence at all for this? I see it mentioned frequently, especially with big cichlids in reference to minimum tank sizes. People say the internal organs will keep growing when the fish is stunted, eventually causing problems and death. From a biology point of view this...

There are two most common misconceptions about fishkeeping.

The first one is that the tank needs to be scrubbed clean. I made the same mistake because I didn't understand or know about the Nitrogen Cycle. My aim is to not only sell fish, but also to educate so that people can enjoy fishkeeping as much as I do, and not see it as "work"
