National SASL Day may have passed. It lasts only one day, but the conversation shouldn't. Awareness should last all year.
Being Deaf isn't a one-day or one-documentary story, and neither is South African Sign Language (SASL).
Every Deaf-owned business, Deaf creator and Deaf organisation has the power to spark curiosity, challenge perceptions and inspire people to learn more about SASL and its access.
As one of those businesses, I hope everything I create encourages someone to ask a question, learn a new sign, buy things from a Deaf-owned/ Deaf-led company, or see the Deaf community from a different perspective.
The more we talk about SASL, the more visible and access, understood and valued it becomes.
Let's continue celebrating our language and keep the conversation going everyday.
