Most of 44 Stanley winds down around 5pm, but a few of our favourite places keep things going into the evening.

The Bioscope has screenings until late, with the last screening at 8pm. Grab a pizza, a drink or something to snack on before the film.

For a longer dinner or a drink, La Pergola Restaurant - Italian Cuisine , GL(👄)RY and SAINT GERMAIN are open into the evening, with tables to sit down and spend the evening.

P.S. If you’re moving between the two sides of the centre, use the big 44 main gates, the smaller gate in the middle is usually locked earlier in the evening.

So while we’re not quite a late-night destination, there are still a few lovely places to end your day around here.

Design Week is almost here and we’re thrilled to be at the hub of it for the Joburg edition.

From Thursday 8 to Sunday 11 October, the programme is spread across venues and creative spaces in the city and we hope you spend part of it in our neck of the woods.

What to expect? Designers, artists, architects, makers, brands and creative practitioners working across design, craft, art, architecture, fashion, music and culture.

It all sits under this year’s theme, The Shape of Us, which looks at the different people, histories, perspectives and practices that shape contemporary South African design.

Alongside the wider programme, we’ll be hosting the Morning Sessions and the What We Love exhibition at 44 Stanley.

The new releases were presented by Radford Dale w**emaker PetronĂŠ Thomas, who took us through the new vintage and shared more about the w**es, the season and the thinking behind them.

On 1 October, Lesedi Ntsane brings his bold trumpet sound to The Bioscope for an evening of South African musical heritage, contemporary sounds and live improvisation.

Curated by Mandla Mlangeni Jazz at The Bioscope brings Johannesburg’s jazz scene into an intimate setting, giving you a chance to experience the music up close.

Music starts at 8pm. Arrive early to enjoy food and drinks at The Bioscope before the performance.
