These dynamic young women are now in the second phase of the Pathways to Possibilities (P2P) (.co ) programme, representing the Green Economy stream.

As part of their journey, they’re playing a vital role in helping us bring our reuse pilot to life—educating customers, tracking packaging returns, and driving behaviour change in the community.

We’re proud to partner with organisations to create opportunities for youth to lead the way in building circular, community-driven solutions.

In April of this year, we embarked on an audacious journey to democratise access to nutritious food in low-income communities across South Africa and, what a journey it has been. As we close off the year, we reflect on how grateful we are to each and every person or organisation who has walked parts of this journey with us throughout these past few months.

The problem with trash and single use plastic is that it doesn't biodegrade. Instead, it photo-degrades, breaking down into smaller and smaller pieces over time. But those pieces never really go away, and they can end up in our food and water supply. That's not good for us, and it's not good for the environment either. Plus, all that plastic takes a lot of energy and resources to produce, so it's actually quite damaging to the planet as a whole.

So what can we do? We can start by reducing our reliance on single-use plastics. Bring reusable containers or glass jars when visiting Gcwalisa, invest in a reusable water bottle, and say no to plastic straws. Every little bit helps!
