Hope451

Hope451 Hope451 is a movement which fights for the rights of all individuals in South Africa.

Hope451 is a group dedicated to creating a fair and equal South Africa for the 51 million people in our beautiful country, and help those who do not have a voice. We believe that there is hope for each one of our 51 million South Africans and with that will attempt to fight for the rights of each of us. We do not consent of any form of racism or sexism crippling our society, and we do not engage i

n any form of violence but rather find positive and realistic means to overcome issues in our society which is holding us back from being the best country on the planet.

It's been quite some time since our last post but I could not skip this one. The news has been buzzing with Ntokozo Qwabe's recent actions. I have no issue with him having his own (racist) opinions, but find it cheeky that he is at Oxford University on a Rhodes scholarship but still demands the Rhodes statue to be removed.

Further to this, not respecting the working class by not paying what is considered a tip to someone offering you a service is low and cheap. How would his actions play out if all races started following his example by leaving snotty messages to waiters instead of paying them for the services rendered? His actions is an insult to everyone trying to make a living.

If you feel the same consider signing the below petition. We can't guarantee that it will realize but it should at least (and hopefully) prove that good people have a voice over those trying to destruct the hard work of others.

Ashleigh Schultz, 24, was reduced to tears when Ntokozo Qwabe – a leader of the campaign to remove a Cecil Rhodes statue at Oxford – and a friend wrote on their cafe bill: ‘We will give tip when you return the land.’ He bragged online that they had made her cry ‘typical white tears’, leaving him ‘un...

Today I would like us all to discuss alternatives, we all have read the stories of woolworths, engen, saa and others who openly discriminate and we are left saying, "so who should we support" So if anyone has a good alternative to the big guy of any industry tell us about it.

24/10/2012

OK well we have a few topics to start with today, lets see what everyone thinks and if anyone has more to add to our list

BEE - the discrimination which will always follow it.
This we need to look at who to take on, obviously all major companies country wide abide to BEE laws and status's to ensure work contracts and so on and we as the consumer do have the power to change this we know we can!

Helping the less fortunate - If we could set up a program to help someone in need every week/month it will start to make a difference in a lot of peoples live, not only those being helped but those helping too! Obviously we cant buy someone a house but maybe dinner for a night or even a job could be possible.

Abuse of animals, women and children - I think we are all aware of the devastatingly high number of statistics which occur in SA so this is another thing we can discuss.

Crime - This is also a major issue we all live with so maybe some ideas or stories or anything that can lead to a discussion of change.

Finally something I would like to chat about is creating a community - I have thought about this since I was a kid, when I was younger we lived in a block of flats and it just so happened that it was mainly single mothers. Over the 5 years we lived in those flats I learned so much through the strength of community, if someone had a rough month everyone else would chip in and help them, I cant tell u how many times we walked into our kitchen to find packets of food just left there for us to find. It didn't matter what colour our neighbor was all that mattered was it was our neighbor and we all looked after each other. So after we left there I saw the harsh world where you fend for yourself to survive and I am sorry I may be wrong but I cant see this as the way it should be, so my question is this, would us as South Africans every be able to embrace a community spirit not as blacks not as whites but as South Africans?

To everyone still with us we have to apologize once again for slacking off, we have been inundated with work and jobs and various other responsibilities but we have not forgotten! So where do we go from here? What is the direction we take? This is a group with so much potential and can and hopefully will make a lot of difference in the future but we need your help, this is not our group is a group for us all, this is a page for South Africans to have a voice and speak to one another in a mature, respectable fashion and so I would like to start our mini come back with an open discussion. Where to from here? There are many challenges and uphills we are about to face and we cant take everything on at once so this is what we propose...lets raise issues we want to discuss and from there we narrow it down to sections that we can divide up and conquer one at a time...and go

I have taken some advice from members and put some thought into the direction of our group. I have come to the conclusion that yes, the group has moved away from its original purpose, and that is an issue we will address immediately. We're here to fight for equal rights and to stand in the way of a system which is running over its individuals. The success of our campaign revolves around your input and commitment to help us get our voice across to those who fail to see us as unique individuals in our country. At this stage, we're a very small group and we need members to join our cause, but before we can do that, I would like to dedicate this week to an open platform for you to give your input as to what you want from a movement like ours, and what you do not want. We cannot cater to everyone’s needs, and the group will not return to a group solely relying on negativity. Hope451, with the principle matter that we're fighting for equal rights for all, is here to stay. Be realistic, understand that the group has no funds and I do not want to ask for donations from members to run a campaign, but if you feel it is necessary, consider if you would be willing to invest in a group like ours. So please give us your input, your ideas and what you would like to see happen in our group to satisfy your inner need of a movement which you will support. After this week we’ll consolidate every single input, build a properly structured mission and vision statement, and get the ball rolling. Over to you:

With a broken heart I have to admit to my mistakes, count my blessings and move on. I am sorry I have failed you, and my role in this group has now ended. I have failed you because I forced my own moral and emotional decisions on you where you joined the group to fight battles in ways I am trying to move away from. For the last 2 months I really worked hard, I had a lot of sleepless nights and along with the rest of our team, wanted to see a difference from what we're doing. I really honestly promise I did my best. I don't have a political background nor do I have mentors who could have guided me in making this group the success you wanted from it. Every action, motive, mission or plan I made by gut and hoping for the best. Sometimes it worked, but lately my decisions have affected the group in numbers and I realise that my viewpoints is not that which created the group in the first place. South Africa needs a hero. I wanted, believed I could be, but I am not that hero. A hero should be able to stand tall, hide behind his mask and be a protector of the people, fighting for their best will and take critisism where it is given to him. He does not take the glory, but rather wants to see glory in what he is standing for. I can only hope that you understand that with each decision I made I made it with pure and honest motives, and that I wanted to see this group excel with members and create a common vision that if we fail to be a team player, we cannot expect to win the battles ahead. You deserve someone who can be that hero, and I am just not strong enough to handle the pressure anymore. Thank you for each person who joined and supported my vision, you have truly made me a stronger individual and this is an experience I will never forget. I still believe that there is hope for us all, each individual, and I ask that you do not leave this group because of decisions made, working together we'll see a united South Africa. I will consult with the rest of the team and if someone feels they have what it takes to take over and lead, please send us a message. Thank you and take care.

Over the last couple of weeks I have seen on one of the DSTV channels, Comedy Central, a short animation being played which to me is revolting in each possible manner. The short video is called "Izikhokho Show" which portrays Jesus as a South African, utterly distasteful and blasphemy in each possible way. This group is not set to make religious debates as each person has a right to his own viewpoints, but these cartoons are really in bad taste. Please see the link below to see for yourself. In this particular case, Jesus commits su***de because he finds out he is a Shangaan. These short clips play in-between shows on Comedy Central so kids or any person watching is subjected to it without knowing when it will be played. Have you seen this? What is your viewpoint?

Jesus of the ANC is a Shangaan

One of our members suggested we start a discussion on a very controversial topic, so let's see what opinions we get out of this. What is your personal feeling towards legalisation or prohibition of ma*****na in South Africa? Should the government legalise it with the same regulations put in place for Alcohol and to***co or do you feel it should not be legalised at all?

Over the last couple of years, we've seen an increase on strikes for better wages, where with some it has the potential to have devastating effects on our economy due to shortages (like fuel). Some may argue that it serves no purpose and it should not be allowed, where others will feel that if they don't do it, they will not be given a respectful yearly increase, as most of the companies have large turnovers and profit margins which could be shared amongst those who keep the companies alive. What is your input, do you appose or agree, and what would you propose to better the situation?
