I was actually quite optimistic about Rod #4. And at first was impressed with its casting action then snap and it's back to the drawing board for Rod #5. Oh well, getting lots of practice, refining skills and figuring bamboo rods out slowly!!!

Tres, tres catastrophique!!!! After working perfectly on Rod #2, I was horrified to see smoke billowing from my curing oven! Rod #3 nothing but cinders. Work on Rod #4 starts tomorrow.

Ta da!! First ever split cane fly rod. It's got an action like a spey rod, feels like a 12wt and casts like a wobbly noodle. Much work needed.
