Who Says You Can't Mix the Two?

When Hand Embroidery Meets Machine Embroidery
(And Nobody Gets Hurt)

Here's something that doesn't get talked about nearly enough.

Mixing hand embroidery with machine embroidery.

There seems to be an unspoken rule in some circles that the two should stay firmly in their own lanes. Hand embroiderers over here. Machine embroiderers over there. Never the two shall meet.

Absolute nonsense.

Art has no rules. Creativity has no rules. And the moment you start telling yourself there's a right and wrong way to make something beautiful, you've already limited what's possible.

Think about this: a beautifully hand embroidered table runner from a shop or market. Already lovely. Already has character and charm. But it's not quite yours yet.

Now add a machine embroidery design to it.

A delicate floral cluster in a space that feels empty. An elegant border along an edge that needs definition. A monogram in the corner that makes it unmistakably, completely yours. Suddenly that store-bought piece has become something nobody else has. Something personal. Something that tells a story about the person who made it their own.

The combination of hand embroidery textures and machine embroidery precision is genuinely stunning. They don't compete. They complement. The slight irregularity of hand stitching alongside the clean detail of machine work creates something that feels both artisan and refined.

And it works the other way too. Start with machine embroidery as your base and add hand stitched details. French knots. Satin stitch accents. A little hand embroidered detail that adds something unexpected.

There are no embroidery police. Nobody is coming to check your technique or question your methods.

Just beautiful things made beautifully. However you choose to get there.

Happy stitching,
Adriana ๐Ÿ’›

Life Is Too Short for Boring Aprons

The One Thing in Your Kitchen That Should Have a Personality

Aprons have a bit of an image problem.

Somewhere along the way they became purely functional. Beige. Practical. Completely devoid of personality. The kind of thing you grab because you don't want to ruin your clothes, not because you actually want to wear it.
Let's change that entirely.

Because here's the truth: aprons are one of the most enjoyable things to embroider. They've got space for a proper design. They get used constantly. And they're visible โ€“ when you're cooking, baking, gardening, crafting, or doing anything remotely messy, your apron is right there front and centre.
So it might as well say something worth reading.

For the serious cook: elegant botanical designs. Herbs and florals. Something that looks sophisticated and intentional. "Made with Love" in beautiful script above a delicate wreath.

For the baker: flour dusted and proud. "Baking is My Therapy." "Powered by Butter and Good Intentions." A rolling pin design with a cheeky quote underneath.

For the animal lovers: a gorgeous cow with "Holy Cow, Something Smells Good." A cheeky chicken with "Warning: Fowl Language Spoken Here." A cat sitting judgementally above "I Cook as Good as I Look." Cute, charming, and impossible not to smile at.

For the BBQ enthusiast: bold graphics. "Grill Sergeant." "Licensed to Grill." Something that makes everyone at the braai laugh.

For the gardening apron: florals, botanical designs, something that looks beautiful even when covered in compost.

For the kids: their name in big cheerful letters with a favourite animal design that makes them feel like a proper little chef.

Aprons work for everyone. Every personality. Every occasion. Every sense of humour.

And an embroidered apron isn't just something you wear. It's something you reach for deliberately, something that sets the mood, something that says: right, I'm here, I'm ready, let's make something.

That's worth stitching.

Happy stitching,

Ditch the Branded Bags
(You Deserve Better)

Shopping Bags That Actually Reflect Who You Are

Let's be honest.

Those plastic bags with the shop's name plastered all over them. The flimsy paper ones that disintegrate the moment it drizzles. Even the "reusable" bags shops sell that are still just advertising space for their brand.

Not exactly inspiring, are they?

Here's the thing: you're going to carry a bag every time you shop. Every single time. People see it. You see it. It goes everywhere with you. So why shouldn't it be something you actually love?

An embroidered shopping bag changes the whole experience.

A beautiful floral design on sturdy canvas. A bold geometric pattern that coordinates with your style. A cheeky quote because why not. Your name or monogram because it's yours and nobody else's. Something that makes you smile when you grab it off the hook on your way out.

And the practical benefits are genuinely brilliant. Good quality canvas bags last for years. They hold more than flimsy shop bags. They're washable. They're strong enough for heavy shopping without threatening to give up halfway across the car park.

Make a few in different sizes. A large one for the weekly shop. A medium one for the market. A smaller one for those quick trips where you only need a few things.

All of them beautiful. All of them yours. None of them advertising someone else's shop.

That's the upgrade your shopping routine deserves.

Happy stitching,
