World Cleanup Day 🌍

This morning the RMD teamed up with TotalEnergies, Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank and JoburgParks to give our public spaces much-needed love — painting benches, planting trees, and sprucing things up. From there we headed to Bolton Rd for some island landscaping🪏

On the 10th of September, Rosebank turned 130. From a dusty fire break along Oxford Road to one of Johannesburg’s most electric urban nodes, this precinct has spent thirteen decades reinventing itself, and it’s nowhere near done.

Rosebank’s evolution reflects a precinct built on integration, sustained development and steady growth: transport, retail, residential, commercial and public space designed to function together rather than in isolation.

Coordinated precinct management has supported this progression, with safer streets, well-maintained infrastructure and sustained collaboration between property owners, businesses and the local authority. It’s an approach that continues to shape how the node grows.

Spring doesn’t need much of an invitation in Rosebank. The warmer days draw people outdoors — for a morning coffee, a browse through the shops, an afternoon moving between galleries, an ice cream along the way, or a table at one of the neighbourhood’s favourite eateries. And soon, the jacarandas will add their own flourish, turning the streets purple.

A new multi-purpose creative hub, Urban Playground, has officially opened at Rosebank Mall. The space brings together skateboarding, BMX, street soccer, basketball, dance, fashion, music production and podcasting under one roof, celebrating South Africa's growing street culture.

Urban Playground gives young people a place to develop their talents, connect with creative communities and explore pathways into the creative economy.

On 17 July, the Rosebank Management District marked Mandela Day with community upliftment initiatives across the precinct.

In partnership with JoburgParks, more than 50 volunteers rolled up their sleeves for a greening project at Sturdee Park and Keyes Events Park. Meanwhile, residents from the local homeless shelter enjoyed an "Escape from Reality Experience," made possible through collaboration with district stakeholders.

Please be advised Rand Water will be reducing pumping from the Palmiet Pump Station to the Sandton System on 17 July, from 7am - 7pm. Properties in and around Rosebank may experience low water pressure or intermittent supply during this period.

We advise residents and businesses to plan accordingly and store water where necessary. Normal supply is expected to resume after 7pm.
