Send this to the friend who always says, “I’m fine.”

You know the one.

The friend who checks on everyone else.

The one who replies, “I’m good 💛” even when life feels heavy.

The one who knows how to listen to everybody’s problems but somehow never talks about their own.

Maybe they don’t want to be a burden.

Maybe they don’t know how to explain what they’re feeling.

Maybe “I’m fine” has simply become the easiest answer.

But I hope they know this:

You don’t always have to be strong around me.

You can be tired.

You can be confused.

You can cry.

You can change your mind.

You can say, “Actually… I’m not okay.”

You don’t have to have a neat explanation.

And you don’t have to carry everything alone.

Sometimes love looks like creating a safe place for someone to finally tell the truth.

And sometimes faith looks like praying for someone even when they haven’t told you what they’re going through.

Because God already knows the things they don’t have words for.

He sees the quiet battles.

The unanswered questions.

The tears nobody sees.

The “I’m fine” that really means, “I don’t know how to talk about this.”

I’m Fiona, and this is Once a Story by FionaTinashe.

A space for relatable reflections about faith, life, relationships, growth, and the little moments that make us stop and think.

I’m not here because I have everything figured out.

I’m building my faith too.

I’m learning, questioning, growing, and trying to notice God in the ordinary parts of life.

And maybe this is the reminder one of us needs today:

You are allowed to say, “I’m not okay today.”

You don’t have to carry it alone.💛
Tag or send this to the friend who always says “I’m fine.”

And if that’s actually you today, you don’t have to explain everything.

Just leave a 💛 in the comments.

Someone might see it and realise they’re not the only one.

Peace and love,
Fiona ♡

Read this again before you decide you’re not capable of doing it. 💛

There will be days when you doubt yourself.

Days when you question the dream.

Days when waiting feels too long.

Days when disappointment makes you wonder if you should even try again.

And sometimes, you don’t need another person telling you to “just be positive.”

You need to remember what you’ve already survived.

You have made it through uncertain days before.

You have cried and still kept going.

You have started over.

You have had plans change.

You have walked through seasons you never expected.

And somehow…

you’re still here.

Maybe you don’t have the answers yet.

That’s okay.

You don’t need the whole roadmap.

You need the next step.

Maybe today that step is praying.

Maybe it’s resting.

Maybe it’s applying for the opportunity.

Maybe it’s opening your business notebook again.

Maybe it’s forgiving yourself for not being where you thought you’d be.

Maybe it’s simply getting through today without giving up on yourself.

And if you’re a person of faith, remember this:

God hasn’t forgotten you just because you are in a season you don’t understand.

Waiting doesn’t mean you’ve been abandoned.

Starting again doesn’t mean you failed.

Going slowly doesn’t mean you’re behind.

And needing to begin again doesn’t erase how far you’ve already come.

So save this.

Come back to it when self-doubt gets loud.

Take a breath.

Pray.

Look at how far you’ve come.

Then take one step.

Then another.

You don’t have to figure out your whole life today.

You just have to keep walking.

God is still with you in the ordinary days, the uncertain days, the rebuilding days and the hopeful ones too.

You are allowed to begin again. 💛

Peace and Love,
Fiona ♡

If this found you at the right time, maybe you were supposed to stop here. 💛

Take a breath.

You don’t have to solve your whole life tonight.

You don’t have to know how everything is going to work out.

You don’t have to have the next five steps planned.

Maybe you’ve been putting pressure on yourself to figure everything out because you’re scared of what happens if you don’t.

Maybe you’re tired of waiting.

Tired of thinking.

Tired of trying to make sense of things that don’t make sense yet.

And maybe tonight, you just need permission to put some of it down.

Take what you can carry.
Pray about what you can’t.
And let tomorrow be tomorrow.

I know that’s easier said than done.

I’m learning it too.

I’m Fiona, and this is Once a Story by FionaTinashe.

A space for relatable reflections about faith, life, growth, waiting, disappointment, hope, and all those ordinary moments where we’re quietly trying to figure things out.

I’m not here because I have all the answers.

I’m building my faith too.

I’m learning what it means to trust God when I don’t know how the story is going to end.

And sometimes, trusting God doesn’t mean knowing exactly what’s coming next.

Sometimes it simply means saying:

“God, I don’t know what tomorrow looks like. But I know I don’t have to carry it tonight.”

So if today has been heavy, let tonight be gentle.

You can rest.

You can breathe.

You can pray.

You can leave some questions unanswered until tomorrow.

God is already there.

Save this for the night when you need the reminder again. ♡

And if someone you love has been carrying too much lately, send this to them.

Maybe this is the little reminder they needed today.

What are you trying to stop carrying tonight?

You don’t have to explain it. One word is enough. 🤍

Peace and love,
Fiona ♡

Maybe you don’t need another motivational speech today.

Maybe you just need permission to say:

“God, I’m tired.”

Not “I’m blessed and highly favoured” while secretly falling apart.

Not a perfectly worded prayer.

Not a long list of everything you need God to fix.

Just…

“God, I’m tired.”

Tired of trying to figure everything out.

Tired of carrying things you were never meant to carry.

Tired of being strong for everyone else.

Tired of waiting.

Tired of pretending you have the energy when you really don’t.

And maybe that’s exactly where Jesus meets you.

Matthew 11:28 says:

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Notice the invitation.

Come.

Not “come when you’ve figured everything out.”

Not “come when your faith feels strong.”

Not “come when you have the right words.”

Just come.

Come tired.

Come overwhelmed.

Come confused.

Come with the little bit of faith you have today.

I’m learning that building my faith doesn’t mean I will always feel strong. Sometimes it looks like admitting that I need God.

So here’s my prayer for you today:

God, give me strength for today.

Peace for what I cannot control.

Grace for what I cannot fix.

And remind me that I don’t have to carry everything by myself.

Amen. 🤍

If you’re tired today, you don’t have to explain everything.

Just comment, “I need rest.”

And if someone came to mind while reading this, send it to them. They might need this reminder too.

Have you ever prayed… but felt like your words weren’t reaching anywhere?

You pray.

Then you pray again.

Same situation.
Same request.
Same tears.
Same “Amen.”

And somehow, the next morning, everything still looks the same.

I think we sometimes put pressure on ourselves to make prayer feel powerful every single time.

But what about the prayers that feel routine?

The prayers you whisper when you’re exhausted.

The prayers where you don’t know what else to say.

The prayers you’ve prayed so many times that you almost feel silly bringing them to God again.

Maybe prayer doesn’t always have to feel powerful.

Maybe sometimes prayer is simply showing up.

Psalm 62:8 says, “Pour out your heart to him, for God is our refuge.”

It doesn’t say perform for Him.

It doesn’t say find the perfect words.

It says pour out your heart.

And sometimes pouring out your heart might be a long prayer.

Sometimes it might be three sentences.

Sometimes it might be tears.

Sometimes it might simply be, “God, I don’t know what to say anymore.”

And maybe that’s okay too.

I’m learning that faith isn’t always about feeling something extraordinary.

Sometimes it’s about continuing to show up, even when the feelings aren’t there.

So if your prayer life has felt a little dry lately…

don’t beat yourself up.

Come as you are.

Say what you can.

Sit quietly if that’s all you have.

Just keep showing up. 🤍

What’s one thing you’re praying about this week?

You don’t have to share the details. Just comment “I’m still praying.”

“God, if this is You… just give me a sign.”

Have you ever prayed that?

I have.

When you’re standing at a crossroads, uncertainty can feel unbearable.

Should I stay or go?

Should I take the opportunity?

Should I trust this person?

Should I start?

Should I wait?

So we ask God to make it obvious.

“Give me a sign.”

“Confirm it.”

“Show me I’m making the right decision.”

But I’ve been thinking…

Sometimes what we’re really asking God for isn’t a sign.

It’s certainty.

We want to know the outcome before we take the step.

We want to know we’re making the right decision before we risk being wrong.

But maybe faith doesn’t always give us certainty.

Maybe sometimes it develops wisdom.

James 1:5 reminds us that when we lack wisdom, we can ask God for it, and He gives generously.

So perhaps the prayer isn’t always:

“God, give me a sign.”

Maybe sometimes it’s:

“God, give me wisdom.”

Wisdom to slow down.

Wisdom to recognise what isn’t healthy.

Wisdom to check my motives.

Wisdom to seek wise counsel.

Wisdom to wait when I’m rushing because I’m uncomfortable.

Wisdom to recognise when I already have enough information to take the next step.

That’s something I’m learning through my own faith and life journey.

I’m Fiona, and Once a Story by FionaTinashe is where I share those honest reflections — the questions, lessons, waiting seasons and everyday moments that are teaching me to build my faith while I’m still figuring life out.

No perfect answers.

Just real conversations and a faith that’s still growing.

So if you’re waiting for clarity right now, don’t be ashamed of the uncertainty.

Pause.

Pray.

Ask for wisdom.

And give yourself permission to listen.

🤍 Are you currently asking God for clarity about something?

Comment “clarity.”

Maybe someone else needs to know they’re not the only one waiting for an answer.

Can we talk about something we don't always feel comfortable admitting?

Sometimes… you're disappointed with God.

You prayed.

You believed.

You waited.

You thought things would turn out differently.

And they didn't.

Maybe the door never opened.

Maybe the relationship ended.

Maybe the opportunity passed you by.

Maybe the healing didn't come when you expected it.

Maybe you're still waiting for the prayer you've carried for years.

And now you're trying to reconcile your faith with your feelings.

Because you still love God.

You still believe in Him.

But somewhere inside you're asking:

“God… why did You let this happen?”

I've realised that disappointment doesn't always mean you've stopped believing.

Sometimes it means you cared deeply about what you were praying for.

And the Bible doesn't tell us to pretend otherwise.

Look at the Psalms.

David asked God, “How long?”

He brought his confusion, grief, frustration and questions into God's presence.

He didn't have to pretend.

And maybe we don't either.

This is part of what Once a Story by FionaTinashe is about.

Real life.

Real questions.

Faith that is still being built.

Reflections from the seasons that stretch us, confuse us, humble us and sometimes bring us closer to God in ways we didn't expect.

I'm not sharing from a place of having everything figured out.

I'm learning too.

So if you're disappointed with God right now, maybe you don't need to have the perfect prayer.

Maybe you can simply say:

“God, I'm hurt. I don't understand. But I'm still here.”

He already knows.

🤍 If you've ever been in a season like this, you don't have to explain your story.

Just comment “I understand.”

Someone reading your comment might need to know they're not alone.
