experience the divine fragrances of Simplispice, you may find yourself transported to the Malabar Spice Coast, or you may even imagine yourself on a vibrant stroll through a bustling Indian marketplace. None of these sensations would be so strange as Simmi has drawn from all of these. Simmi was born and raised in Durban, South Africa, and has traveled through Singapore, gathering knowledge of spice practices. Simmi was drawn to working with spices in cooking and integrating this work into her personal life. From there, she developed further hands-on experience to create one’s own pharmacopoeia of home spice blends using essential spice and herbal oils, ground grains, beans, seeds, nuts and spices. Simmi’s interactive experience of toasting, grinding, and melding continue to be strongly influenced by her diverse dishes and the colors, rituals and practices of both India and her native South Africa.These seeds of experience, exploration and a passionate love of spices, gracefully blossomed as she launches Simplispice. All this plus a background as a retailer, and her experience in the property industry makes Simmi a lively masala indeed!
