Don’t let his handsome size or dark coat mislead you — this boy is a soft, gentle, affectionate baby who just wants to love and be loved.

Beer is the kind of dog who becomes your shadow, your workstation supervisor, your emotional support buddy, and your daily dose of joy. He’ll follow you from room to room, settle next to you while you work, and gently nudge you when he thinks the cuddle-meter needs topping up.

💛 Why Everyone Falls in Love With Beer
• He does adorable little zoom-circles when he barks — you WILL laugh every single time.
• He keeps himself entertained with his rope toy or by rolling his ball around like he’s dancing.
• He is fetch-obsessed — that ball is his absolute love language.
• He joins his dog walker in a pack and does beautifully with other dogs.
• If you sit on the floor… say goodbye to your lap. It’s his now.
• He’s clever, eager to please, and responds to Afrikaans cues like “los,” “nee,” “sit,” and “down/af.”
• He enjoys his grooming sessions and de-shedding days — just not the blower, thank you very much.

Beer has a very sensitive soul — he thrives with calm reassurance and a gentle home.

What an incredible day in the pool! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️

On 7 June 2026, our swimmers competed against 12 swim schools and achieved an outstanding result:

🥉 3rd Place Overall 🥉

We are incredibly proud of every swimmer who participated. From the moment they stepped up to the blocks, they showed confidence, determination, sportsmanship, and a positive attitude.

Swimming galas provide valuable experience for our younger swimmers, helping them build confidence, develop racing skills, and learn how to perform in a fun and supportive competitive environment.

A huge congratulations to our swimmers, instructors, and supportive families who made this achievement possible. 💙

Tomorrow,

Many of those who apply to adopt are guided elsewhere.

They are sent info, leads, links and flyers of Rottweilers available for adoption at other shelters.

Because our dogs have time and are not bound by a deadline and we have the privilege of being able to say “we are full.”

Unless we have a super fit that adopters won’t find elsewhere we step back and ask for adopters to consider a dog elsewhere first.

On a Friday night I always double check that wonderful breed savvy homes are going to view dogs elsewhere and make sure they honor their word to arrive on a Saturday.

There is no “pull” or “fake adoption” just a solid push, kennels number reminder, name at the front desk and a gentle reminder to take proof of address, money for the homecheck, ID etc.

And I go to bed filled that it’s never been about
“our dogs” but rather the incredible breed we serve.

And we are always happy to help any Rottie in need wherever they may be.

We have officially broken ground for our brand-new, state-of-the-art pool, and we cannot wait to welcome you to our new home! We’ve designed this facility with your comfort and enjoyment in mind, creating the perfect environment to help everyone—from our tiniest babies to our confident adult swimmers—thrive in the water.

Here’s a sneak peek at the incredible features coming your way:

Year-Round Comfort: The pool is completely indoors and heated, so you can enjoy your swim no matter what the weather is doing outside!
Ultimate Convenience: We have included indoor, dedicated change rooms for both male and female swimmers, along with toilets and warm showers to make your post-swim experience cozy and stress-free.
Relax & Watch: Parents can sit back and relax in our lovely, dedicated seated area, designed specifically for you to comfortably watch your swimmers in action.
Warmth & Fuel: Need a pick-me-up? Our new coffee station will be ready to provide you with a great cup of warmth before or after your session!
Easy Access: We know how important ease is, which is why we’ve ensured there is safe, off-street parking available for all our visitors.
The best part? This fantastic new facility is located just two minutes down the road from our current Hlulwe branch, making it super easy to transition to your new favorite swimming spot.
