🚨 DEAR UPPER HIGHWAY, WHAT IS REALLY GOING ON @ KLOOF CIVIC HALL? 🚨

Access denied. Market blocked. Stories are circling, ratepayers wondering, weddings are happening.
Our Durban Highway Lifestyle Market booked our spot @ KLOOF CIVIC HALL months in advance. We arrived to pay our fee in good faith, as we have done every month since the end of 2024.

Instead, we got hit with total administrative absurdity:
❌ Payment denied for May.
❌ Payment denied for June.
❌ Now denied for July.

We requested a cancellation notice. Denied. Your booking isn’t canceled, but you’re not allowed to pay. Market can’t happen.

Then comes the ultimate contradiction:
“Last time I checked, you have not paid for your booking.” No market ➡️ Obstruction.
“Our booking lapses.”
“Hall under construction.”
“You will pay when the time is right.”
“Hall closed until project authority signs off.”

Yet here is the reality:
Election registrations happen. NGO meetings happen. Weddings are on.

There is zero construction going on. The hall is selectively closed. Or shall we say open for some. No apology. No resolution. Just ghosting — waiting for us to tire out and go away. The hall remains closed, or shall we say closed for selective few.

The Upper Highway community is missing out on a vital community asset, small local traders are losing their livelihoods while we try to find out:
❓ WHY is this happening?
❓ WHO is really in charge here?
✊ Get Involved, help us open the hall for everyone.

⚠️ Important Notice: The Durban Highway Lifestyle Market is on pause for May. This was not our decision. Access to Kloof Civic Hall has been closed by hall management and the construction supervisor for ongoing maintenance. Unfortunately, the 20 April deadline was not met due to delays in the maintenance work.
We’re following up on the maintenance progress and will share the updated market date soon.
Thank you for your support — we look forward to welcoming you back to the hall.
