🌸 SOME FLOWER EDUCATION TIME! 🌸

Did you know that the price of flowers can sometimes more than double during a week with a public holiday? 😱🌸

This might not make much sense at first, so let me explain…

Flowers, just like gold, livestock and other fresh produce, are traded according to supply and demand. When supply is low and demand is high, prices go up 😌

The same principle applies to holiday accommodation and flights.

Take Muldersdrift, for example. There are more than 80 wedding and function venues in the area, and many of them are fully booked every Saturday. Then you have people hosting baby showers, kitchen teas, birthday parties and other celebrations at home — most of which also happen over weekends.

Now add a public holiday on a Thursday…

Suddenly, you've added another function day to the week, which means a huge increase in the number of people needing flowers. 🌸

And if the public holiday falls on a Monday, you can have functions on Friday, Saturday, Sunday AND Monday! 😳

Now multiply that demand across the whole country — with a large percentage of our flowers coming through the Multiflora flower auction — and you can imagine what happens to the prices!

You'll especially notice this with white flowers and Gypsophila, because a public-holiday week can mean double or even triple the number of weddings and functions taking place.

So always remember:

🌸 PUBLIC HOLIDAY = FLOWER PRICES SKYROCKET! 😉🌸

And then… add 5 matric farewells per town happening in the same week, roses being out of season while we're waiting for the new blooms after pruning, and you have the perfect recipe for the crazy flower prices we experienced this past week! 🙈😂

Rest assure, it will come down again once roses are in full bloom and most matric farewells and year end function are done 😉

🌸 A BIG shout-out and THANK YOU to my incredible, hard-working staff! ❤️
We have worked around the clock these past 3 days! 🙈
Monday was KHS’s matric farewell, along with some schools in Brits, and today we had Hoërskool Noordheuwel AND Hoërskool Monument having their matric farewells on the same day! 😅
In just 3 days we made approximately: 💐 60 wrist corsages
💐 100+ photoshoot bunches
💐 6 funerals
💐 3 weddings to prepare for this coming Friday
💐 And, of course, all our regular customers and their floral requirements
📱 PLUS countless messages and enquiries to answer!
Needless to say, there was absolutely NO time to take photos of our work this week! 😂
But we can proudly say that we made it through today successfully, with no mistakes and every order delivered as it should be! 🙌❤️ That is something we are incredibly proud of, especially considering how crazy busy these past few days have been.
And tomorrow is a PUBLIC HOLIDAY! 🙏😂 I think we are ALL extremely thankful for that! We definitely need a day to catch our breath, recharge and recover! 😴🤣
