STATEMENT:

Centre Management can confirm that part of the ceiling bulkhead collapsed yesterday evening. No one was hurt in the incident. A full audit and due diligence of the affected area including the surrounding mall ceiling and bulkhead structures is currently underway. The relevant consultants and professional team were called immediately and this area has been cordoned off and cleaning has commenced.

Our preliminary findings indicate the bulkhead collapse was a result of on-going air-conditioning duct replacement and that there was no structural damage to any section of the roof.

We would like to assure our customers that the safety and security of all shoppers and tenants are of paramount importance. The Centre remains open and safe for customers despite this unfortunate incident.

A look back on significant progress...

Mega City Shopping Complex, situated in the heart of Mmabatho. The popular regional centre, which has served the local community for more than twenty-five years, was last refurbished in 2016.

Mega City Shopping Complex was previously owned by Old Mutual Group, when Kyostyle Pty Ltd purchased 100% of the shopping centre in 2008.

Since the centre came under new management stores such as Food Lover's Market, Sky Cinema Mega City and Roman's Pizza have all been introduced... creating 500 employment opportunities in the process.

The improved aesthetics and flow, along with exciting new brands, will continue to enhance the shopping experience for Mmabatho’s loyal customers. Furthermore, the revamp has since served to further entrench the centre as a shopping destination of choice in the North West.
