It’s National Bring Your Grandson to Work Day!

Okay, we made that up. But we reckon it deserves a spot on the calendar!

Ewan’s been helping out in-store these holidays, much to Gogo Sally’s delight. Although customer service training has been interesting…

Today, we’re taking our own advice and heading outdoors.

Because after years of helping people camp, braai, cook and make themselves at home outside, we reckon the outdoors is pretty much part of our heritage too.

Camp & Gas is closed today while Alec and the team conduct some very important field research around a braai.

Happy Heritage Day, South Africa.

May the fire be ready, the drinks be cold, and nobody ask the braai master when the meat will be done.

Meet Realda Evert — AKA “The Cat Lady”! 🐾

As Office Manager, Realda is one of the people keeping the wheels turning behind the scenes at Camp & Gas — and after 12 years with the team, there’s not much you can throw her way that she can’t handle.

• No task too tough. Throw it Realda’s way and chances are, she’ll find a way to get it sorted.
• The Cat Lady — and proudly so! Realda has a big heart for rescuing cats… and quite the collection of furry family members to prove it.
• Usually cool, calm and collected. But on the rare occasion that temper makes an appearance… even our Boss-man knows it might be wise to tread carefully! 😉

Meet Chaterine Nkosi — or Kina!

Kina’s connection to the Camp & Gas family started long before she joined the team. She first helped care for Sally “Gogo” Blair’s grandchildren, before officially joining Camp & Gas as a General Assistant in 2017.

Quiet, gentle and always ready with a smile, Kina works hard behind the scenes to keep everyone looked after – and the shop floor and showroom squeaky clean!

• Family first, always. From helping raise Gogo’s grandchildren to now spending her time with her own – family is Kina’s world.
• If it shines, Kina’s probably been there. She takes great pride in keeping Camp & Gas looking its best.
• Quietly getting it done. Gentle, friendly and always smiling – and not afraid of a good day’s work.

Meet Angela de Klerk – or Ange to the team!

Ange is our Installation & Service Coordinator, keeping the gas installation teams, bookings, quotes, clients and jobs moving… and she’s very much hands-on with the teams she coordinates.

A valued part of Camp & Gas since 2007, Ange started in office administration before moving into installations, where she’s helped grow this side of the business over almost two decades.

3 quick facts about Ange:
• Ange is fine. “Tannie”... not so much. Our customers & staff have been warned! 🤣
• She’s a coordinator through and through. Hands-on, invested and happiest when her teams and jobs are running smoothly.
• Off duty, Ange swaps bookings, quotes and installation teams for yarn and knitting needles. A slightly different kind of coordination!

Flo is one of our General Assistants and a much-loved part of the Camp & Gas team.

Meet Sally Blair… Shareholder since 1990

Camp & Gas has been around since 1983, with Sally becoming a shareholder in 1990.

These days Sally is supposedly retired… but she still has a valued voice in the decisions and direction of the business. Because at Camp & Gas, family-run really does mean family-run.
