🐴 Why do we jump over fillers — and why are they so colourful?

Jump fillers aren’t there just to make a course look pretty. They’re an important part of helping horses become more confident, adaptable and focused when faced with something unfamiliar.

In training and competition, horses may encounter different shapes, patterns, colours, shadows and objects underneath or around a fence. Using fillers during schooling helps introduce that visual variety in a controlled environment, so the horse learns to assess the fence and continue forward without becoming overly distracted by what is underneath it.

The different colours and shapes matter because horses don’t see the world exactly as we do. They are especially sensitive to contrast, movement, shadows and unfamiliar outlines, so a bright flower, fence, rainbow or unusual shape may look very different to a horse than a plain pole.
That’s why variety is useful.

A well-schooled horse gradually learns:
“This looks different, but I still know what to do.”

For young horses, ponies, kids and novice riders, fillers can be introduced progressively — starting simple and building confidence over time.

At Horse Addict, that’s one of the reasons we create fillers in so many different styles, colours and shapes. They’re not only designed to make an arena more interesting — they’re designed to help make training more useful too. 🐴✨

What type of filler does your horse notice first — bright colours, unusual shapes or something else?

⭐ PRODUCTION HAS STARTED AGAIN! ⭐

Our first set of fillers is almost finished, and these Shooting Stars are already stealing the show. 🌈⭐

The colours absolutely pop, and seeing them come together from concept to finished filler is exactly why we love what we do.

This is just the beginning.

Follow along as we build more jump fillers, put them to the test in the arena, and keep showing you exactly what Horse Addict is capable of. 🐴

More designs. More testing. More colour. More Horse Addict.

🐴 HOW DO YOU TEACH A HORSE TO JUMP FILLERS?

For many horses, the jump itself isn’t the problem — it’s the new shape, colour or object underneath it that makes them stop and think.

That’s exactly why introducing fillers during schooling can be so valuable.

A good approach is to build confidence gradually:
Start with a simple, familiar fence and introduce the filler without making the whole exercise feel overwhelming.

Keep the jump low and comfortable while the horse learns that the new object is nothing to worry about.
Give the horse time to look, understand and process what is in front of them.

Reward calm, forward attempts rather than trying to force the issue.

As confidence grows, gradually introduce different colours, shapes and filler styles.

Fillers help horses learn to focus on the fence rather than being distracted by what it looks like, which can make them more confident and adaptable when they encounter something unfamiliar at a show or new arena.

At Horse Addict, many of our jump fillers are created specifically with kids, ponies, novice riders and young horses in mind — giving them something colourful and interesting to practise over without immediately presenting an intimidating obstacle.

For young horses especially, the goal isn’t to see how brave they are.

It’s to teach them:
“Different doesn’t mean dangerous.” 🐴🤎

Take your time, keep the experience positive and build from one successful attempt to the next.

👇 What type of filler does your horse find the most suspicious — bright colours, flowers, unusual shapes or something else entirely?

08/09/2026

🐴 The biggest question we get: “Will they stand?”

Yes — they will. 🙌

Our Mushroom Jump Fillers have been tested on both sand and grass arenas, and that’s exactly what we wanted to show here.

They’re designed to stay stable in the arena while remaining lightweight and practical enough to reposition quickly when you’re changing a course or schooling setup.

No wrestling with heavy fillers. No complicated setup. Just pick them up, move them to the next jump and carry on. 🍄🐴

Because good arena equipment shouldn’t only look great — it needs to work in the real world too.

✨ Well... we couldn't choose just one! ✨

When we shared our latest concept designs, we thought we'd narrow it down to one or two favourites...
But the more we looked at them, the more we realised each one had its own personality.

So we made a decision...

We're making them all! 🤎🐴

The first step is complete, and all the designs are prepped and ready for cutting. Soon they'll start coming to life, one by one, before heading into the workshop for sanding, painting and testing.
This is honestly one of our favourite parts of the process—watching an idea on paper become something horses and riders can enjoy.

A huge thank you to everyone who has liked, commented, shared your ideas and supported our journey. Every bit of encouragement reminds us why we love creating unique pieces for the equestrian community.

We can't wait to reveal each new design over the coming weeks... and we have a feeling you're going to love what's coming next. ✨

✨ Every collection begins with an idea... and ends with a story. ✨

When we started Horse Addict, we didn't set out to make ordinary jump fillers.

We wanted to create pieces that riders would stop and admire. Pieces that would make arenas feel different. Pieces that would spark conversation, create beautiful photo moments, and make every course a little more memorable.

Looking back at everything we've created so far, we're incredibly proud of how far this journey has taken us.

Every design has been imagined, refined, tested and ridden over before becoming part of the Horse Addict collection. If we wouldn't proudly jump our own horses over them, they don't leave our workshop.

From colourful butterflies and playful mushrooms to elegant scrolls, rustic western themes and timeless classics, every collection has its own personality and purpose.

These aren't just jump fillers.

They're pieces of art, designed to celebrate the sport we love and transform an ordinary arena into something extraordinary.

And this is only the beginning...

Thank you to everyone who has supported our journey so far. Your encouragement, ideas and belief in what we're creating inspire us to keep dreaming bigger.

Here's to many more collections, many more ideas, and many more unforgettable arenas. 🤎🐴
