Coin Emporium NUMISMATICS – The Collectors Paradise

This is purely a collectors hobby page for people who have questions on collecting and the passion to collect.

If you are wanting to sell do not expect a reply rather advertise on an auction page. This group is intended to promote the hobby of Numismatics which is being destroyed by investors. It is not to say that coin collecting cannot be used as an investment tool but its primary function is to use coins to record history. It is always exciting to find in your collection a rare specimen that you need to

complete a set. The grade of a coin is important but must be left open for negotiation and not used as a tool to increase the price. Dealers in the past were instrumental in the function of promoting collecting by aligning the price of coins to catalogues rather than the grade attained from a company.

The Enchantment of Coin Collecting: A Journey Beyond Rarity
20 August 2023 - by Jan Kleynhans.
Coin collecting, often referred to as numismatics, is a delightful pursuit that transcends the boundaries of monetary value. While rare and valuable coins do add an element of excitement, the joys of collecting extend far beyond the pursuit of expensive treasures. Here's why coin collecting is a gratifying journey accessible to all, regardless of their budget.
1. A Glimpse into History: Every coin is a tiny piece of history, carrying a story of its era. Collecting coins, even common ones, provides a window into the past – the cultural, political, and economic landscape of times gone by.
2. Affordable Beginnings: Contrary to popular belief, you don't need a fortune to start a coin collection. Everyday coins, such as those found in circulation or readily available, can form the foundation of a meaningful collection.
3. Cultural Exploration: Coin collecting opens the door to exploring various cultures. Coins from different countries showcase unique designs, languages, and symbols, allowing you to journey around the world through your collection.
4. Art Appreciation: Coins are miniature works of art. Their intricate designs, varying metals, and craftsmanship make them a fascinating canvas of creativity. Appreciating the artistry adds a layer of depth to the hobby.
5. Personal Connection: Coins can evoke personal memories and connections. Perhaps you remember the excitement of receiving a specific coin as a child or the first time you handled a foreign currency during travel.
6. Historical Context: Collecting coins provides historical context to major events. Whether it's a coin from a significant year or an issue that marks a milestone, your collection tells stories that transcend mere dates.
7. Educational Value: Numismatics is a form of self-education. You become a researcher, learning about minting techniques, historical figures, and the economic backdrop of different eras.
8. Social Connection: Coin collecting is a hobby that can be shared with friends and family. Swap stories, exchange coins, and discuss the fascinating tales behind each piece.
9. Patience and Discovery: Collecting coins teaches patience. You might spend years searching for a particular coin, and the moment you finally find it is a reward in itself.
10. No Age Limit: Coin collecting knows no age limit. It's a hobby you can start at any age and continue to enjoy for a lifetime.
In a world where rare and valuable items often take center stage, coin collecting shines as an accessible and enriching hobby. The value lies not just in the monetary worth of the coins, but in the stories they tell, the knowledge they impart, and the joy they bring. Whether your collection includes coins from distant lands, special years, or simply coins that pique your curiosity, the journey of coin collecting is a treasure trove of experiences waiting to be discovered.
I hope that you enjoyed reading my article and invite you to share this wide and far.
Happy Collecting.

Everyone this is a HOBBY ONLY SITE, it is not a business. I am trying to prompt coin collecting as a hobby but it appears that facebook cannot identify with this concept.

When you become a collector you should not allow bad political events from dissuading you from collecting. Afterall history is the events that happened in the past and cannot be changed.

I find it very sad to see people looking at coins and trying to determine how much they are worth rather than collect coins to make up sets and in doing so they might come upon a rare, valuable coin/s. For instance I have this set: What makes it interesting for me as a collector is whether it is an original set or made up. One party considers it to be a made up set by jewellers and another consider it to be original made up by the mint. It is immaterial as to its value but it does carry a lot of historical significance.

Hope to see you there
