AV MYTH: More speakers means better sound. 🔊

It’s easy to assume that adding more speakers automatically means more volume, better coverage and a better experience.

It doesn’t.

A professional sound system is about how the system is designed and used, not simply how much equipment is on the truck.

Speaker placement affects how evenly sound reaches the audience.
Coverage determines whether people throughout the venue can hear clearly.
System design ensures the different elements work together rather than compete with each other.
And tuning helps the system deliver the right sound for the space.

Sometimes, adding more speakers can actually create more problems if they aren’t properly positioned, aligned and integrated into the system.

Eastern Acoustics Dictionary 🎧 | Feedback

That sudden squeal. The high-pitched ring. The noise that makes everyone on stage reach for their ears.

That’s audio feedback.

It happens when sound from a loudspeaker is picked up by a microphone, sent back through the sound system and amplified again — creating a loop.

The closer the microphone is to the speaker, the greater the potential for that loop to build.

And that’s why microphone placement, speaker positioning and careful gain management matter so much in live sound.

It might sound like a simple “eeeeee!” — but there’s some serious signal behaviour behind it.
