Midlands Arts and Crafts Society MACS’ Aims
Our aims are:
1. to provide greater opportunities for artists.

2. to develop their skills and broaden their experience.

3. What happens at MACS

Beading, Bookbinding, Books by Local Authors & Poets, Craft, Stock & Bead Shop, Natural Fibre Dyes, Fabric Printing, Handspun and Hand-dyed yarns, natural fleece for spinning, dyeing and felting, Wet Felting, Knit & Natter Saturdays, Mandalas and Spinning to maintain a high standard of artistic endeavour.

4. to provide interaction between artists and crafts people of different disciplines, inclu

ding the performing arts.

5. to stimulate greater public awareness and appreciation of, and participation, in the arts. The objects of the Society are:

1. to encourage Art and Craft of a high standard, with strong emphasis on originality and creativity.

2. to expose local artists/craftsmen through regular exhibitions, including exhibitions taking the form of “markets”.

3. to promote public awareness and appreciation of artistic quality.

4. to promote interaction of artists/craftsmen of different disciplines, including the performing arts and including co-operation with existing organisations of related interests.

5. to create greater public involvement in art by organising non-selling public and/or children’s exhibitions.

6. to compile a catalogue, listing local artists/craftsmen and their work, and making it available to members of the society and other interested parties. Educational events such as regular classes, courses, workshops and lectures.

2. Exhibitions of work by MACS members and teachers, invited artists and outside organisations.

3. Poetry book launches.

4. Open Days showcasing traditional skills and supporting international fibre events such as World Wide Knit in Public Day, World Wide Spin in Public Day and FeltUnited.

5. Annual selling exhibition in December each year where many additional items, old and new, are on sale. Office Hours

Enquiries regarding MACS courses and membership may be made on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8am to 4pm and Saturdays from 8am to 2pm. Creative Thursdays are open from 8am to 12noon and are run by volunteer fibre artists. Telephone 033-3866500. Like
