In the valleys on our doorstep, thousands of dogs and cats live with owners who love them but can't always afford food or a vet. KZN Valley Dogs closes that gap — weekly feeding runs, care for the sick and injured, and patient education that changes how whole communities look after their animals.

No fancy offices. No big budgets. Just a dedicated team, a bakkie full of food, and more than a decade of showing up.

MEET THE CAUSES — Kloof & Highway SPCA

In the run-up to our Fundraiser Golf Day, we're introducing the four organisations we're playing for. Today: one you'll know — whose work is even bigger than most people realise.

The Kloof & Highway SPCA is the safety net for animals across our area, from Westville all the way to Cato Ridge. Their inspectors respond to cruelty complaints, sick and injured animals and emergencies every single day — and they don't stop at the rescue. They build the dockets, go to court, and keep fighting until there's justice. Their promise says it all: "We won't stand by whilst an animal suffers."

In their busiest months, more than 700 animals can come through their gates. That takes serious resources — and that's where our Golf Day comes in.

There's only one green we'll ever accept — and it isn't the one in your pool.

At Justham, we believe pools are made for fun with family and friends, and yes, that includes the furry ones. A pool is often the centre of the home. It's where the weekend happens. A green pool is no fun for anybody.

A golfing green, though — that's a different story.

So on Friday 2 October we're embracing green for a day. Our Golf Day at Kloof Country Club, tee-off 11am, raising money for four organisations doing vital work for animals:

The forever home you’ve never heard of

MEET THE CAUSES — Monkey Heartland

Tucked away in the Upper Highway is a sanctuary most people don’t even know exists. Monkey Heartland is a lifetime home for exotic monkeys — Marmosets, tamarins, capuchins and squirrel monkeys (as well as bush babies and sugar gliders) — bought as pets and later neglected, abused, or surrendered by owners who couldn’t cope. They care for 11 species!

Here’s what makes them special: they don’t breed, sell or trade. Every monkey that arrives has found its forever home — safe, properly fed and cared for, for the rest of its life. And because they receive no government funding, every enclosure, vet visit and meal is paid for by people like us.

That’s why they’re one of the four beneficiaries of our Fundraiser Golf Day:

6,000 second chances

MEET THE CAUSES — Paw Prints Rescue and Rehoming

On a green two-hectare property in Botha’s Hill, surrounded by trees, mist and a little river, sits an adoption centre that has changed the lives of more than 6,000 dogs and puppies since 2015.

Paw Prints takes in the abandoned, the abused and the orphaned — many of them puppies with nowhere else to go — and gives them vet care, rehabilitation and time. Then the team works tirelessly, at the centre and across social media, to match each one with the right family. It’s a pro-life centre run on donations and volunteer love, and the calls for help never stop coming.

We’re proud to have them as one of the four beneficiaries of our Fundraiser Golf Day:

1,200 bowls a week!

MEET THE CAUSES — KZN Valley Dogs

Every week — rain or shine — the KZN Valley Dogs team heads into the Inanda and Shongweni valleys with food and veterinary care for more than 1,200 dogs and cats. They've been doing it since 2015.

Out there, a bowl of food and a vaccination can be the difference between suffering and a decent life. And the work goes beyond the animals: over the years they've built real trust in these communities, with local kids helping dish out meals and learning what it means to care for a pet properly.

It's unglamorous, week-in-week-out work, funded entirely by donations — exactly the kind of cause a golf day was made for.
