Hello, old friends. 🌙

We've been quiet. Too quiet. But there's a good reason....

You might also notice we've had a little rebrand. This page has changed to a space for all my books, because one book was a dream, two books became a pattern, and three books mean this is who I am now. The stories aren't stopping. Neither is this page.

The truth is, there's been a new book brewing - one that has taken time, consideration, effort, a messy dining room, and more than a few deep breaths. And it's almost here.

"Good Night, South Africa" launches in June, and we cannot wait to share it with you.

While "The Fuzz-Fuzz" and "Eleven Dogs Live With Me" were busy finding their way onto bookshelves and into bedtime routines, this new story was quietly taking shape - a love letter to this beautiful, diverse, breathtaking country of ours. A book for every child who falls asleep under the vast South African sky.

We're back. There are stories to tell, adventures to share, and one very exciting competition coming your way very soon.

Proof that it’s never too early to start reading to your child.

Here’s adorable 3.5 month old Darcy enjoying story time. Watch her eyes tracking the page and how she listens and engages with the reader. These non-verbal cues are strong!

Recent studies show that daily reading improved language development in infants 12 months and younger. Furthermore, research indicates that children who are read to, before they are even able to speak, perform better at a school-going age, and have better chances of financial success in later life.

It’s International Women’s Day!

I grew up in the 1970s with the narrative that girls can do anything boys can.

Career Barbie showed me I could be anything I wanted. Melanie Griffith told me that women’s ideas mattered and we could get to the top in business. Princess Leia led an entire army in rebellion, Wonder Woman was a badass, and the heroes in my storybooks were brave, intelligent girls like Nancy Drew, forging new paths… Saving the day!

But things were so different for our grandmothers, great grandmothers and those before them.

Today, from the bottom of my heart, I say “thank you, to all the generations of women before me. Thank you for being boat-rockers, tree-shakers. Thank you for creating the feminist movement that pioneered the change that gave me & my girlfriends the right to vote, to work, to drive, to be heard, to be educated, to be treated as equals, and to follow our dreams. I’m forever grateful for the sacrifices those amazingly brave women made. Like Rosa Parks who wouldn’t give up her seat on the bus, and Betty Friedan who wrote ‘The Femine Mystique’.

Happy Women’s Day to us! And here’s an extra salute to the women raising the next generation of kind, caring, empathetic children who will in turn change the world for the better. To the women reading to their children and creating thinkers who will become leaders.

To every bold lady out there, and the men that support us, here’s me high-fiving you!
