✨ FIRELIGHT | UP School of the Arts – Locations Series ✨

An intimate winter evening of music, light, and atmosphere in the Visual Arts Courtyard at the University of Pretoria.

On this one night only, the courtyard is transformed into a glowing creative space — fire braziers for warmth, ambient projections across the gallery walls, and live acoustic music beneath the winter sky. Guests are invited to gather at candlelit tables where architecture, sound, and visual art merge into a shared immersive experience beyond the traditional concert hall.

Featuring award-winning South African musician and UP alumnus Leon Gropp, alongside acclaimed composer and School of the Arts alumnus Atlegang Milanzi, performing an intimate programme of voice, guitar, strings, piano, and cinematic acoustic arrangements created especially for this setting.

Guests will be welcomed with warm soup and freshly baked bread, as UP opens one of its hidden creative spaces for an evening shaped by connection, atmosphere, and live artistic expression.

Pierneef’s Kraal De Gallerij invites you to the opening of Threads of Experience, a solo exhibition by Colleen Jack — a moving exploration of textile, memory, and transformation.

Through fabric, stitch, sculpture, and storytelling, Jack weaves together the lived experiences that shape identity, resilience, and renewal. Drawing on a rich background in fine fashion, pattern-making, and human development, her work reflects the intricate ways in which we are formed — and reformed — over time.

Layered textiles, delicate beading, found wood sculpture, and hand-stitched line work come together in tactile compositions that speak to both vulnerability and strength. Each piece offers a reflection on reconstruction, where beauty is found not in perfection, but in process.

Rooted in both artistic practice and human insight, this exhibition invites viewers into a contemplative space where myth, archetype, and personal narrative intertwine — revealing the quiet power held within every thread.

🐕 Die Kronieke van Buks is ’n skreeusnaakse én aangrypende kabaret oor ’n klein Chihuahua met ’n groot persoonlikheid – en nog groter insig in ’n dorp vol geheime.

In die stofstrate van Paul Roux is Buks koning. Hy trap van huis tot huis, luister na skinderstories, ontdek verhoudings, en word die onwaarskynlike bewaarder van ’n hele gemeenskap se waarheid.

Maar soos die dorp se fasades begin kraak en chaos nader kruip, word dit duidelik: agter die humor skuil ’n storie wat gevaarlik naby aan die werklikheid lê.
