Today was a memorable day for SAM, and especially for our Saturday Charity Shop volunteers. A story worth telling so that people can know for sure that most pet owners in Sedgefield are decent people who do the right thing.

A gentleman came into the shop this morning, explaining that his dog had unfortunately attacked another dog on the beach recently. He immediately apologised and took responsibility, asking the owner of the injured dog to forward all vet bills to him. The lady who owns the injured animal was gracious and understanding and insisted that she would carry the costs herself.

It was eventually agreed by both parties that the injured party would carry the vet bills for her dog, and the gentleman whose dog had caused the issue, would make a donation to SAM instead. He duly came in this morning and made a donation that took our breath away! Suffice to say, our fuel bill is taken care of until mid-November 😁🐾🎊🎉!!

Both parties have asked to remain anonymous, and we respect their wishes, and we do so with our sincere gratitude for this kind gesture. Costs are escalating daily for everyone, and Animal Welfare everywhere is taking a knock.

Our Sedgefield community is exceptional❤️
