PROTECTION OF PERSONAL INFORMATION ACT (POPIA)
This act is due to be enforced on 1st July 2021 and essentially protects the interests of individuals, companies and institutions from their personal information being used without their permission.
POPIA allows companies and organizations to process data if it’s deemed in the user’s “legitimate interest”, creating a point of ambiguity for possible abuse and enforcement difficulties.
I’m sure that there will be many ‘test cases’ which will play out in our justice system, moving forward, and possibly FB, could be included, so anyone who uses one of our group members personal information for a purpose which could be seen to contravene the POPIA act, could see themselves facing legal action.
By joining this group, however, you acknowledge that the information you have on your FB profile is viewed by the general public, and should you not want this information seen, we suggest you amend your FB privacy settings, and this group, or its admin, will not use your personal information in contravention of the Act, and cannot be held liable for anyone’s information being used by a 3rd party…
Should you not be in agreement, please remove yourself from this group.

Good day to you all.

Please note we are now open Mondays to Fridays till 7pm to escape the heavy traffic during the peak season so you can still do your book shopping in peace during the week!

Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays are open till 5pm
BUT, we will be taking a break on Christmas Day and New Years Day so will not be open on those two days.

Enjoy your holidays in peace with a great book!
