In the Cape, winter is when the water arrives. The rains of June, July and August soak down through the soil and wait — a reserve the vine will draw on through the long, dry ripening months of summer. The winter before our 2022 harvest was generous. Groundwater levels were replenished across the winelands, and when the heat of February came, the vines had everything they needed to finish the job without stress.Stressed vines make hurried wines. Rested, watered vines made Somesay 2022.

Harry Hartman ‘Mosi’ Bordeaux Style Blend
Style: Elegant, structured, and complex classic Stellenbosch Bordeaux-style red blend.
Composition: Cabernet Sauvignon-led, seamlessly integrated with Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot.
Nose:
An enticing and deeply aromatic bouquet displaying a sophisticated, dark-fruited profile. Layered aromas of ripe plum, blackcurrant (cassis), and wild blackberry are beautifully framed by classic gravelly undertones, pencil shavings, a hint of dried fynbos, and a subtle touch of warm vanilla pod from French oak aging.
Palate:
Refined and medium-to-full-bodied on the palate, striking an exceptional balance between power and poise. The core of dark berry fruit is supported by a vibrant, firm acidity that lends excellent drive. The tannic structure is prominent yet finely grained, providing a savory, chalky grip that speaks to its Stellenbosch roots and bodes well for cellaring.
Finish:
Long, linear, and structured, tapering off into a persistent finish marked by lingering notes of dark cocoa, dry slate, and a touch of savory spice.
