Anys boer beskuit /Aniseed Rusks
For as long as I can remember, my ouma'sΒ house was filled with the smell of aniseed bread /boer beskuit.. No matter how much time has passed since I last visited when I close my eyes I can still imagine the smell like it was yesterday.Β There is nothing like it. It is the most light and fluffiest thing you will ever eat, fresh straight out of the oven when it's still piping hot. It's a 36 hour process from start to finish.Once baked it can be dried and eaten with a nice cup of coffee/boeretroos.
Even though I have been watching for years and taking notes π it was a huge family secret.Β This past week my ouma has finely entrusted me with the final family secret recipe. I'm am so honored to be entrusted with this recipe.Β Β And it's all ready a hit in my home with my 3.5 year old. He can now also smell it from a mile away. And can't wait for the first fresh slice to come out the over.Β
