🌦️ Weather Update – Thursday, 03 September 2026

A cut‑off low nearing the country from the west is starting to affect the weather across the country.

Latest data shows potential widespread showers and rain over the south coast of the Western Cape and parts of the eastern coastline of the Eastern Cape.

Otherwise, scattered showers and thundershowers are likely over the southwestern parts of the Northern Cape, parts of the Western Cape, and Eastern Cape. Only isolated showers and thundershowers are expected over parts of the Free State, North West, and the eastern parts of the Northern Cape.

These kinds of systems are tricky as they can change quickly, so updates and adjustments might be made as the models get a clearer picture.

🌡️Temperatures:
A contrast in temperatures can be seen, with cold to cool weather over the west but hot over the east, and very hot over parts of KwaZulu‑Natal. The ICON model is picking highs of 38°C in some parts of the province. Otherwise, conditions will be warm to hot.

🌦️ Weather Update – Wednesday, 02 September 2026

This Wednesday it will be hot over most of the Northern Cape, Mpumalanga, Limpopo, and KwaZulu‑Natal. Elsewhere it will be warm to very warm in the afternoon, except over the coastal areas of the Eastern Cape and Western Cape.

Isolated showers and thundershowers are still possible over parts of the southern Free State, southern KwaZulu‑Natal, Eastern Cape, and parts of the central Karoo, but the chances remain low.

📅 Looking ahead until Sunday:
Latest data from the ECMWF shows a lot of rain, with more than 100 mm over North West, and less than 50 mm over parts of Limpopo, Gauteng, KwaZulu‑Natal, Northern Cape, and Eastern Cape. This is still likely to change a bit, but if it holds together we might get some good rains across the country.

🌦️ Weather Update – Saturday, 29 August 2026

This Saturday a cold front will be sweeping the southwestern parts of the Western Cape, bringing isolated showers over the southwestern and southern Western Cape and the western parts of the Eastern Cape province later on. Otherwise, it will be dry and fine across the country.

Ahead of the cold front, gusty winds are possible over most of the Northern Cape and parts of the Eastern Cape.

🌡️ Temperatures:
It will be quite hot in the afternoon over parts of the Eastern Cape, with temperatures going slightly above 30°C near Kugompo and surroundings. Elsewhere, it will range from cool to warm.

This Thursday we keep things hot in the afternoon over the western parts of the country, where temperatures may reach the low thirties. In the eastern parts of the country we keep things cool and fine. When it comes to rain, isolated showers are possible over KwaZulu‑Natal, eastern Mpumalanga, and Limpopo. There is also a slim chance of a few light showers or even a thundershower developing over Gauteng, parts of North West, and the Free State, though this is still a bit uncertain, so adjustments will be made tomorrow again.
