How do you know that you’re about to be a victim of a remote access scam?
Red flags include an unsolicited phone call from someone pretending to represent a real organisation and claiming there’s a security issue on your device. They’ll use fear, urgency, and technical language to convince you to install remote access tools on your device so that they can help you remotely. Once you do, they can see everything on your phone or computer, steal your information, access your bank account without your consent, or direct you to fake banking sites that appear authentic to steal your login details.
Stay safe:
✅Don’t grant anyone remote access to your device
✅End suspicious calls and instead contact your bank directly
✅Only download apps from official app stores
✅Update your device software regularly
Remember, African Bank will never ask you for permission to access your device, nor will we ask you for your bank account number, PIN, password, or ID number.
