They are manufactured using a Vacuum Resin Infusion process which ensures strength and lightness. We use top quality products and these hand made kayaks are made personally ensuring attention to detail.

They are lightweight, from 15kgs, making it easier for paddlers to pick it up and move to and from the water by themselves.

The Dusi Canoe Marathon will return to the waterways of KwaZulu-Natal from 18-20 February 2027, with organisers confirming the dates for the 76th edition of one of South Africa’s most iconic canoeing events.

The Odyssey Swallow is a fun, light and compact kayak. It’s basic, stable and easy to paddle and carry. It has enough buoyancy to carry 147kg. It is short which is great for storage, but has a long waterline which gives good speed. It has super manoevrability, exceptional tracking ability . It is a fun boat to paddle in surf and it’s simplicity makes it robust and durable.

The Swallow is a great entry level kayak. Perfect for the whole family for casual paddling or day tripping in light to moderate sea conditions. The width creates a stable platform for great bird watching, fishing etc.

Congratulations to all the paddlers who took part this year.
So much excitement among the leading paddlers on a very low river.
Day 1 - lots of swimmers, including many top contenders
Day 3 - young Joshua Glyn-Cuthbert who was in 2nd place broke his paddle losing 30 mins whilst fixing it and moving him down the placings.
Day 4 - Tom Lovemore (was in 3rd place) and Anders Hart (was in 4th place) had to withdraw at the start after becoming ill.
Young Neriyah Dill (leading the ladies field with a gap of over an hour on 2nd place) also became ill but completed the race, whilst feeling so unwell, and held onto her win!

Wishing all paddlers competing in the 2026 Berg River Canoe Marathon tomorrow, the best of luck!

THE ULTIMATE CANOE RACE IS ALMOST HERE

The long wait has almost ended for the intrepid entrants in the 2026 Berg River Canoe Marathon who tomorrow at 9am set off on their four-day adventure.

Today paddlers will add the final touches to their preparations and make sure everything is in order with boats, paddles and other equipment needed to take them 240km on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The event organisers are making sure all is in place so the caompetitors can enjoy a safe journey from Paarl to Velddrif.

One more sleep and it is race day!

The following is the procedure for the start in Paarl:

REGISTRATION & RACE DAY INFORMATION

📍 Please Note: Registration Venue Has Changed
✅ 2026 Registration Venue: Die Platteland (Old Paarl Rugby Clubhouse)
Located upstream on the opposite side of the Market Street Bridge from the Paarl Canoe Club.
Registration will NOT take place at the Paarl Canoe Clubhouse as in previous years.

🚗 Parking
Paddlers are encouraged to park on the Die Platteland (Old Rugby Club) side of the river. This provides convenient access to both registration and the race start.

🕒 Race Day Schedule – Wednesday, 15 July
07:00 – Registration opens for paddler check-in, goody-bag & race sticker collection
08:30 – All boats must be in the boat pound (no exceptions)
08:40 – Official race briefing
09:00 – Mass start
Paddlers are asked to please allow enough time to complete registration, prepare your boat, and attend the compulsory race briefing.
