West Coast Winter scratching session.
With the Bergrivier being flooded with all freshwater thats coming down from Capetown, at least I have the Atlantic Ocean on the other side where I normally target Galjoen, Kob or White Steenbras in the surf during the winter season.
Winter fishing can be quiet tough but if you have a little bit of patience and you wait out the harsh weather conditions you can plan your sessions ahead, it's all about the right time and the right place.
You also need a trustworthy, in my case a light tackle surf setup, my choice for this session was the Okuma Invincible IVCB-S-1062XH spinning rod, so I have that extra backbone for amazing pulling power if a big fish decides to take a run and paired up with the all new Loomis and franklin Gulf C5000XA spinning reel loaded with Loomis and franklin 30lb shadow braid.
On this particular morning I had a rush of Sandsharks until the tide tured and eventually I got my target species, caught about 4 Steenies messuring in between 35 and 50cm, the feeling never gets old even for their size you can feel every little headshake on the Okuma Invincible spinning rod, super responsive and strong.
All fish safely released.
