_Lemon Poppy Seed Cake recipe_

*Ingredients*
250g cake flour
200g castor sugar
150g butter
4 eggs
120ml milk
2 tsp baking powder
½ tsp baking soda
¼ tsp salt
2 tbsp poppy seeds
1 tsp vanilla essence
1–2 tsp lemon essence OR 1 tbsp lemon paste

*Method*
1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add eggs one at a time.
3. Add vanilla and lemon essence/paste.
4. Sift flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together, then stir in poppy seeds.
5. Alternate dry ingredients with milk.
6. Divide into two lined 8-inch tins.
7. Bake at 170°C for 25–30 minutes.
8. Cool completely before frosting.

BAKER BULLYING IS REAL!

Customers know how to behave when they shop at other stores but when it comes to bakers, some suddenly forget.

When you go to Checkers and see something that is too expensive for you, you simply leave it and look for another option. You don’t start shouting that it is expensive or demand a discount.

But when it comes to a baker who is trying to build a business, some customers suddenly want to bargain, ask for discounts and expect us to bake for little or no profit.

If you cannot afford it, that is okay. Simply move on and find something that fits your budget. There is no need to make the baker feel bad about their prices.

I will always stand up for my fellow bakers because I know how much work goes into baking. Bakers deserve to be paid fairly for their time, ingredients, skills and hard work.

If it’s not within your budget, move on. Don’t bully a baker into undercharging. ❤️
