🌱 HOW TO PLANT A TREE 🌳

Planting a tree is an investment in beauty, shade and a greener future. At Dodhill, we want to help you give your trees the best possible start! 🌿

Follow these simple steps:
1️⃣ Dig the hole – 600 mm deep × 600 mm square.
2️⃣ Prepare the soil – Mix the soil with 600 g SSP and 1,000 g lime.
3️⃣ Water the hole – Water thoroughly to field capacity, then allow the water to settle.
4️⃣ Return the soil – Mix the soil and fertiliser well before returning it to the hole.
5️⃣ Make the planting hole – Dig a smaller hole approximately the same size as the tree’s current pot.
6️⃣ Check the roots – Make sure the roots can fit comfortably without bending.
7️⃣ Plant your tree – Carefully remove the tree from its pot, place it in the hole and water thoroughly.
8️⃣ Protect the roots – Keep the sand/soil around the root ball intact when planting.
9️⃣ Water well – Ensure the planting hole is thoroughly watered with approximately 15–20 litres of water.
🔟 Plant at the correct depth – Keep the top of the root ball slightly proud of the surrounding soil to help prevent collar rot.
1️⃣1️⃣ Water & maintain – Keep your new tree well-watered and give it the care it needs to establish strong, healthy roots. 🌳💚
