Stay Compliant & Avoid Roadside Fines! 🚗
With active police checkpoints, know your legal requirements before heading out. Under Statutory Instrument 129 of 2015, every vehicle on the road must carry specific, approved safety equipment, including:

• Reflective Triangles: Heavy-duty, pair (front & rear).
• Fire Extinguisher: Serviceable 1kg or 2.5kg DCP extinguisher with a valid service label
• Reflective Vest: High-visibility for emergency breakdown safety (not a legal requirement but recommended for your safety)

Vehicle Requirements for Travel to Mozambique

Folks,
If your vehicle is compliant with Zimbabwe’s statutory requirements, you are well covered. But unique to Mozambique are the following vehicle equipment requirements

- If towing, you must display Mozambique yellow on blue triangles, which are available from Big Sky. The large decal is to be placed on the right-hand side at the rear of the trailer, and the small decal on the right front of the towing vehicle. Be aware these triangles are required ONLY if you’re towing …
- We also recommend you carry a reflective vest for each occupant in the vehicle.

Police clearance is required for any cross-border travel.

- For this you will need a copy of the vehicle registration certificate and your passport details. If the vehicle is not registered in your name, you will need an affidavit giving you authorisation to drive the vehicle.
- We suggest the best time to go to Southerton police station is at around 2:30 p.m. when it's quietest.

Mozambique Compulsory Insurance required for all Mozambique border posts. This is available to purchase in Harare from Eaton & Co. Email [email protected]

- The cost is $25 per vehicle
- Required: A copy of the vehicle registration certificate, full name of driver with passport number, cell phone number and dates of travel
