Hay Update – Dillon Rural

A quick hay update for our customers.

Firstly, apologies to our Kew customers who found us temporarily out of lucerne hay late yesterday and this morning. Last week’s rain event disrupted several of our scheduled pickups and we knew stock would be tight until our semi could get back into the paddock and load again.

The good news is our semi arrived back late last night and by lunchtime today we had delivered to Kew:

Our next delivery to the Kew store is expected on Friday, helping top up stocks and keep hay moving across both stores.

We’re working hard to keep hay supplies topped up across both stores as we head into winter. While weather events are sometimes beyond our control, we’re doing everything we can to keep stock moving and minimise disruptions.

Funny what a photo can do.

This was Dillon Rural back in 2017 when we first took over what was then Pete’s Dairy Supplies.

Looking back now, it’s hard to believe how much has changed.

What started as a small local rural store has grown into two locations, a bigger team, thousands more products, countless early mornings, late nights, challenges, wins, mistakes, lessons and memories.

When you’re in the middle of running a small business every day, it’s easy to focus on what still needs doing. Sometimes you need to stop, look back and realise just how far you’ve come.

We’re incredibly grateful to every customer, team member, supplier, family member and friend who has been part of the journey.

The buildings might have changed slightly, the stock has changed and the business has grown, but one thing hasn’t — we’re still just locals doing our best to look after our local community.

We’ve quickly gone from the big dry predictions to near optimum planting conditions 🌧️🌱 — now’s a great time to get winter pasture in while the moisture is here.

🌱 DILLON RURAL ECONOMY PASTURE BLEND

$130 per 25kg bag

A tough, reliable winter pasture blend designed for grazing or silage production later into spring. Perfect for oversowing into summer pastures to help fill the winter feed gap.

✔️ Fast establishment
✔️ High winter feed production
✔️ Quality grazing feed
✔️ Nitrogen fixing legumes included
✔️ Suited to all livestock including equine

🌾 Blend Includes:
• Annual Tetraploid Ryegrass
• Saia Oats
• Vetch
• Persian Clover

📍 Best planted via conventional seed bed, direct drill or oversowing into existing pasture with manageable thatch levels.

📌 Recommended Sowing Rate:
50–60kg/ha

🐄 Grazing Tip:

What started as a small local rural store has now grown into a much bigger space built to better service the Camden Haven community, hobby farmers, acreage owners, tradies, pet owners and locals alike.
