ALMOST 10 YEARS IN BUSINESS… AND WE RECKON IT’S AGED US 20!
When this photo was taken just before our last Demonstration Plot Field Day, we never imagined we’d be sharing it on social media!
Let’s be fair, it’s an absolute shocker! But perhaps that’s exactly why it’s worth sharing. It’s the reality of small business owners — Andy & Linda, sporting a few more wrinkles, plenty of grey hairs and occasionally wondering where our sanity went!
All jokes aside, we’re incredibly proud of what we’ve built together.
We’ve grown Dillon Rural in Cundletown, opened our second store in Kew, built a fantastic team and somehow managed to squeeze in freighting much of our own stock.
And because apparently that wasn’t enough, we decided to create our very own Demonstration Plots!
A project we’ve planned, helped plant, fertilised, sprayed, mowed and learnt plenty from along the way.
Our goal? To give local farmers and producers the opportunity to see different varieties and products growing under real local conditions, compare results and share knowledge. Something that benefits our whole agricultural community, not just our customers.
It’s a big investment of time, money and effort, but one we genuinely believe in.
Our next Dillon Rural Demonstration Plot Field Day is Sunday 22 November! Everyone is welcome!
We’re hands-on shop owners, working alongside our team, taking risks, making mistakes and learning as we go.
Sometimes we disagree, drive each other mad and wonder whether we’ve completely lost the plot!
People often see what a business has built, but rarely see everything it’s taken to build it.
Almost 10 years on, a little older, a lot greyer, hopefully a bit wiser… and still finding new ways to make more work for ourselves! ❤️
