Geranium Op Shop

We offer great quality clothing, household goods and hidden treasures! A cheerful & welcoming space for all!

Money raised, supports the Geranium Community Hub, Centacare & Zahra Foundation- people impacted by domestic violence. Geranium Op Shop is located in the old Geranium Primary School building. In 2022, sadly the school closed but the good news is: the Education Department gifted- yes GIFTED the entire school to the Geranium Community Hub. This has enabled me to "put wings on my dream" of running an op shop. The Op Shop is a safe and cheerful space for locals wanting to connect with each other and also a great little drop in spot for travellers on the Highway. The op shop will help to sustain our great little community here at Geranium. Another exciting development is that there will be a super cool cafe opening next to the op shop so that you can have a cuppa and great food whilst exploring the op shop.

This post is well past its use by date..🧐
Last December, the lovely Jo - formerly of Geranium, paid us a visit in the Geranium Op Shop.
She had done a bit of a clean up in her mum’s pantry and came across some items that were well and truly past their use by date!
The Strawberry Instant Pudding would be quite the taste sensation, only 40+ years, out of date.
Cute bottles and tins but their contents are not so edible 😜

CHANGEMAKER- making a difference together

Last night I had the privilege of attending the Changemaker Event, hosted by the Zahra Foundation.
It was extra special for me because I went with my eldest daughter, Petria! 😌

Since March this year, the Geranium Op shop has donated $5800 to the Zahra Foundation- helping create safer, stronger futures for women impacted by domestic violence.
(We have also donated $5800 to Centacare- Murray Mallee and Adelaide Hills Domestic Violence Service , helping women, men and children impacted by domestic violence)

As I sat and listened to the keynote speaker, Tanya Hosch and then to the panel of speakers, I felt quite overwhelmed with emotion, thinking about our “little Geranium Op Shop” and how that space has been an agent of change, in so many ways!
To those who have donated goods, walked on in through our doors and to the volunteers- I say thank you. 😌

The “takeaway” message for me was, to use the muscle of conversation about domestic violence.
As we talk about it,
we’re helping to make change.
