Meet Sampson the goat! 🐐

Sampson came to us…assumed blind…we went to the vets and they said he would be blind for life!

So we tried some bush medicine 🌿 and colloidal silver spray…lots of love and cuddles and his eye sight returned!!

He is a big boy now (as you can see 😂) and rather protective of Kell…
He leads our herd and our heart! ❤️

Our Sanctuary is a registered charity at our place, where a fairly large family of rescued and rehomed animals live.

All of our rescues sleep in Kells room probably a month longer than they should…in a portacot…until they are ready to go out as a free range…they could leave but stay close to home and sleep outside her window!! 🥰

The wooden donation boxes in the showroom and at the counter go towards this. Sampson eating his own bodyweight in food every day like it’s his job 🐐

A little full-circle moment at the Sacred Earth Showroom ✨

A few weeks ago we welcomed the Prospero film crew through the doors to film for Season 10 of Outback Opal Hunters, along with regulars Lee and Roger, aka Slim Pickings.

Always good to catch up with old friends and have a laugh with the crew.😂

Kell first filmed with Outback Opal Hunters back in 2017 for Season 1 the OG season nearly a decade ago! That first season hit Australian screens in February 2018.

And here we are all these years later, with the cameras rolling again, this time inside the Sacred Earth Showroom.

From digging dirt for opal to Stone + Story + Spirit… funny where the road takes you. 🖤

Lee, aka Liam Gemsworth 😂 and Rog bring an energy and laughter into the shop that’s pretty hard to miss. And their opals are bloody popular too… when they find them! 😂

But behind all the laughs, these two really do epitomise blind faith and resilience. Brilliant machinery operators, hearts of gold, and an ability to keep getting back in the digger regardless of how many times the Ridge serves them up absolutely nothing…

They’re also incredibly generous with their time. If you’re lucky enough to catch them in the shop, they’ll usually stop for a yarn, a laugh or a photo and somehow you walk away feeling a little lighter 🖤

Of course, we can’t forget the real star of Slim Pickings ….Bosco, Lee’s loyal four-pawed sidekick and he’s always welcome🐾

100 MILLION YEARS IN THE MAKING ✨

Formed beneath this ancient country when dinosaurs or dragons, as we like to call them 😉 still wandered the earth.

Then buried…waiting.

Until someone went looking with a drill hole and a dream, in the Outback heat, dust and dirt 🏜️

Then…it comes to the cutting wheel.

We’ve been mining and cutting opal for decades and that first flash of colour still gets us. 🤩

New thing we're doing. Every fortnight, Sue picks one thing she actually loves!! Not the most expensive thing. Not the thing we need to shift. Just whatever she keeps walking past and touching.

This week: Chariot Cabochon, Smokey Quartz "Mystical Magic" Wildcrafted by Tracey Jane Barnes $199 🤩

Sue's says, "Oh that's really hard. It's just... I just love it! It's different, it's unusual, it's unique. Hand made. I just love it!”

That's the entire selection process. Sue has been front of house long enough that if Sue likes it, it's good👌

She also knows where everything in this shop is. Right up until Kell moves it. 😆

Watching the women see their butterflies for the first time was such a special evening….each piece tells a touching story and celebrates the remarkable women who call Lightning Ridge home

Thank you for creating my beautiful butterfly pendant too…I love her dearly and I’ll wear her proudly💜

The collection is on display this week at Enlightening Ridge Opal Queen Emporium before each butterfly flies home with its owner 🦋
