Growing up in my household, I’d say Dolly was fed into my ears more than just about anything. Every single party my parents threw, her and Kenny would be on heavy rotation, along with Bill Haley, The Big Bopper, Creedence and more of that ilk.
My whole family were obsessed with country though and to hear the news this morning that the queen of country had departed this earth, was extremely sad. We will be spinning some tunes in store this week in her honor. What’s everyone’s fave Dolly tunes?
Mine is probably Coat Of Many Colors but Islands In The Stream has to be up there too. Classic!

Bloody excited to finally announce a very special gig that’s been brewing for a long time - celebrating 35 years of Rare Records.

It’s been quite a journey and every band on this bill has been part of the Rare Records story in one way or another over the years. I couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than getting everyone together for a big night of live music.

Mammal, Sydonia, Hinge, Bushido and Tyson & Forbes from Rook and The Khyber Belt will all be joining us at 170 Russell on Saturday 31 October.

We’ll also be bringing a little bit of Rare Records with us, setting up a pop-up record and merch store inside the venue — and because it happens to be Halloween, there’ll be a $250 Rare Records voucher for best dressed.

I really hope everyone who has supported Rare Records over the last 35 years can come down, have a drink, enjoy some great bands and celebrate this milestone with me.

Bloody excited to finally announce a very special gig that’s been brewing for a long time - celebrating 35 years of Rare Records.
