If your apartment is draughty, noisy, too cold, too hot or expensive to run, we got something for you.

Less noise. Fewer draughts. Better temperatures. Lower bills.

Apartment living has plenty going for it. There is less garden to wrangle, fewer external walls losing heat and sometimes a lovely neighbour downstairs warming your floor for free.

But apartments have their own peculiar comfort problems.

The entry door whistles whenever the southerly hits the corridor, the lift announces every late-night arrival, the aluminium windows rattle, the west-facing glass turns the lounge room into a slow cooker. And just when you find a possible solution, somebody mentions the Owners Corporation.

Practical solutions for draughty doors, corridor noise, leaky windows, cold glass and savage summer sun—chosen specifically for apartment living.

🚴‍♂️ THE MOMENT MAURICE DECIDED HE'D HAD QUITE ENOUGH OF THE MEDIA.

For someone who can talk about insulation, draught proofing and energy efficiency until the cows come home, Maurice Beinat was remarkably reluctant to say a few words to the camera during his 220 km Around the Bay ride last Sunday.

Apparently, after cycling an outrageous number of kilometres, he felt that breathing was a more productive use of his remaining energy than entertaining his adoring public.

Frankly, the lack of cooperation from the talent was disgraceful. 😂

We haven't shared this video until now because, following his spectacular departure from the bicycle at 35 km/h, we were genuinely concerned about his injuries.

I'm very relieved to report that he's going to be fine. He's sporting bruises in colours I didn't know the human body could manufacture, and in places that really shouldn't be discussed on Facebook. They'll fade eventually, although I suspect he'll be dining out on the story considerably longer.

And despite that tumble, he got back on his bike, finished the ride and somehow clocked up 258 personal bests on Strava!

I don't know whether to admire him, hug him or confiscate his bicycle - probably all three.

And this really, truly IS our last post about Around the Bay. You've been wonderfully generous with your donations, concern, encouragement and good wishes, and we're enormously grateful.

If you've been meaning to contribute to Maurice's fundraising for Diabetes Victoria, this is your final nudge. Even a few dollars would be a lovely way to recognise one very determined (if slightly battered) cyclist and support a cause close to our hearts.

Now, please enjoy this rare footage of a man who has finally run out of words.

After more than 33 years of marriage, I can assure you this is quite an achievement. 😂❤️

Raised $3,133 so far for Diabetes Victoria.
A great effort.

Fabulous work Maurice Beinat as rider and David Curwood as support team.
The dream team!!

So, what's all this about?

Maurice Beinat is riding 220 km Around the Bay on his bicycle, with his trusty support team Dave. Maurice is riding to raise funds for Diabetes Victoria, and we are just over 60% of our $5,000 fundraising target.

If you've been thinking about donating, today's the day to cheer them on with a few dollars for a terrific cause.

So, occasionally things don't go according to plan.

A bit of a tumble that has now been treated - arm and butt. A new pair of nicks will be required. Fortunately, and more importantly, (according to the team) the bike was not damaged.

Now on the 11am ferry to Sorrento.
Well done team.

Checkpoint 1 - Williamstown and Checkpoint 2 - Little River are done and dusted. Maurice Beinat is going well.

The next leg to Geelong is generally the scene of upturned bikes have their flat tyres changed along the expressway. Hopefully Maurice won't need to be doing that!

🚴‍♂️ AND THEY'RE OFF!

It's stupid o'clock, and Maurice has just headed off to tackle 220 km Around the Bay bike ride, with his trusty wingman Dave as support driver.

Dave has ridden Around the Bay with Maurice several times, so he knows exactly what he's signed up for. Which makes you wonder about his judgement. 😂

Maurice has done the training. Dave's got his back. Now all they need is a bit of luck with the weather, cooperative legs, no cramps and a generous tailwind.

And perhaps a little help from you! If you've been thinking about donating, today's the day to cheer them on with a few dollars for a terrific cause.

Go Maurice and Dave! May the wind be behind you and the hills be somewhere else. 🚴‍♂️🚴‍♂️

Normally, I'd be the support driver, but this year I've been benched thanks to a total knee replacement. Apparently, having a new knee and consuming vast quantities of pain killers disqualifies you from driving - who would that thought!

So I'll be cheering remotely and posting updates from the recliner instead, where my greatest physical challenge will be reaching for the jug. 😂

Tomorrow morning, in the cold and dark, Maurice will get up at an entirely unreasonable hour, put on several layers of Lycra and ride 220 kilometres Around the Bay for Diabetes Victoria.

Maurice’s rider number for tomorrow is 5097. Purely by coincidence, $5,097 would also be a very pleasing fundraising total. At the moment, we are just over HALFWAY there.

If you have been meaning to sponsor him, now would be an excellent time. $10, $20 - whatever you can spare. Enough small donations will get him to that target while he gets himself around the Bay.

This cause is very close to our family, and we would be enormously grateful for your support.

Maurice Beinat will do the pedalling. Lyn Beinat will do the worrying. ❤️

Hi there I am fundraising $5000 to help Diabetes Victoria. Eleven years ago, one of my sons was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes, an autoimmune disease. It's often known as juvenile diabetes as it often afflicts younger kids, however, it can happen to anyone at any time. Please help me by making a don...

Days are getting longer, sometimes warmer (sometimes just as wet as you'd expect them to be in winter... looking at you, Melbourne). The house starts to feel decent in terms of temperature. Freezing inside is a distant memory for some. A year-round worry for others.

It's only a matter of time before your home will start feeling like a sauna. Unless...

Unless you start looking after it now, while the temperatures are reasonable. This is the perfect time to make sure your favourite room stops alternating between a freezer and a sauna.

In a moment where budget is often really tight for everyone, one way to approach your home's issues is one ROOM at a time. No need for whole house commitments.
