🌿DE BEAUREPAIRE WINES 🌿If you’re visiting Rylstone, a stop at De Beaurepaire Wines is an absolute must.
Beautiful wines, a stunning cellar door and one of those experiences that feels relaxed, welcoming and genuinely special from the moment you arrive.
Their Annabelle bubbles is hands down my favourite sparkling wine and the bottle I bring every single time someone says “don’t bring a thing”. It never misses.
A lovely cheese platter, beautiful scenery and a glass of Annabelle overlooking the vineyard is a pretty perfect way to spend an afternoon in Rylstone.
After your tasting, make sure you wander back through town and stop into the shop for a browse.

One place that absolutely needs to be on your Rylstone visit list is 29 Nine 99.
An iconic little business that so many people travel for and one that truly helped put Rylstone on the map. We’re very lucky to call them our neighbours.
I have eaten more dumplings than I’d ever admit publicly.
When you go, do not leave without trying the black sesame dessert bun. I usually order two and have absolutely no regrets about it.
After lunch, come and wander through the shop. We’d love to welcome you in.

If you’re looking for a reason to visit Rylstone this weekend, make sure Ferntree Gully is on your list.
Just outside of town, this beautiful rainforest walk feels like stepping into another world. Cool air, towering ferns, rock formations and quiet walking tracks that make you slow down and really take it all in.
It’s one of those places that reminds you how special this region really is.
After your walk, wander back through town, grab a coffee and come and explore the shop. We’d love to welcome you in.

Our handmade rocky road has been part of The Country Plate from the very beginning.
Long before the shop became what it is today, rocky road was one of the foundation pieces of this little business and it still remains one of the things we are most known for.
Every batch is handmade on site right here at The Country Plate in Rylstone using the same generous approach we’ve always believed in.

🌿 THE COOKBOOK SERIES - OSTRO BY There’s something special about cooking from a beautiful cookbook — slowing down, trying something new, and filling your home with the kind of smells that make everyone wander into the kitchen asking what’s cooking?

I’m starting a new little series where I cook my way through some of the cookbooks we stock in store, sharing the recipes I genuinely love and would make again and again. First up is Ostro by Julia Busuttil Nishimura — simple, generous food made for living and sharing.

Today’s recipe was the Pear and Date Cake with maple buttercream and it could not have suited a cold Rylstone day more perfectly. I had a few overripe pears needing to be used and this recipe was exactly what the day called for. The combination of sweet dates, soft pear and maple icing is heavenly. Moist, comforting and beautifully simple to make.

As Julia writes, this is the kind of cake for days when “being at home in the warmth with a slice of cake and a cup of tea” is the very best place to be. (Coffee for me)

And now my whole house smells DIVINE.

🌿GANGUDDY - DUNNS SWAMP 🌿One of the most beautiful places to explore when visiting our region is Ganguddy-Dunns Swamp.
Towering rock formations, peaceful water, incredible bush walks and some of the best camping in the region. It’s the kind of place that makes you properly switch off for a while.
If you’re planning a weekend away, the campground is such a great way to experience the area properly. Slow mornings, campfires, fresh air and no rush to be anywhere.
Hiring kayaks from Southern Cross Kayaking is also an absolute must. Paddling through the water amongst the rock formations is something everyone should experience at least once.
And on your way through, make sure you stop into Rylstone for a wander, coffee and a visit to our shop.

🌿 HAPPY MOTHERS DAY🌿
Mother’s Day can look different for everyone, but today is about acknowledging the love and care so many women give so freely to others.
I also want to say a special thank you to my own mum. So much of The Country Plate would not be possible without her. From working in the shop to all the behind the scenes jobs no one sees, she gives so much of herself to this little business every single week.
I love her endlessly, appreciate her more than words could say and feel very lucky to not only call her my mum, but to work alongside her every day.
Thank you for supporting our little shop this Mother’s Day weekend. We are incredibly grateful for this community.
