Planting fruit trees just got a whole lot easier!

I planted my lemon tree in the Vego Garden Gen 3 Self Watering Rolling Citrus Tree Planter using citrus soil and fertilizer to give it the best start. I found a young western diamondback rattle snake, which by the way are more dangerous than the adults because babies canā€™t control how much venom theyā€™re letting out like an adult can!
I chopped that suckers head off so quick, and of course had to give the body to my chickens as a snackšŸ¤£

Highly controversial but chickens are not vegetarians! ā€œBut my eggs are from vegetarian fed hensā€
NO! Theyā€™re omnivores, which means they eat both plants and animals. Bugs, worms, even mice and yep, even snakes!

Turning bones into broth and making room in the freezer!

We saved the bones from our meat birds, then simmered them in my 18 quart NESCO cooker for almost two full days. After straining, I filled my FORJARS wide mouth jars and pressure canned everything, giving me 13 quarts of homemade chicken broth for the pantry!

Planting blueberries in my raised bed! šŸ«

Iā€™m only adding two blueberry bushes per bed because even though their roots are shallow, they spread outward and will eventually need plenty of room. This 11 inch raised bed gives them the depth they need while allowing me to control the acidic soil blueberries love.

I finished the bed with pine needles I found from a gal on Facebook Marketplace, yā€™all already know I love Marketplace! šŸ¤£ Pine needles make a great mulch for acid loving blueberries while helping retain moisture, regulate soil temperature, and protect their shallow roots.

Now we wait, hopefully I wonā€™t have to buy blueberries from Costco every weekšŸ¤Ŗ
