⚠️ GUIDE FOR SPOTTING FAKES ⚠️
Recently came across fake One Piece cards at the shop and we would like to make a post here and hope no one will get scammed. If you are around our shop, you are welcome to come take a look from yourselves. Here are some tips to help you as well.
1️⃣ Text Sharpness
The text is not sharp. Looking at the “Bandai Made in Japan” text, you can see that the fakes are lower DPI (text not as sharp). It’s very apparent when compared to a real card.
2️⃣ Card Back Color
The color of the card back is off. Either exceedingly dark or light. It’s very apparent when compared to a real card.
3️⃣ Textured Design Quality
The textured design parts of the card are not as sharp. Similar to the “Bandai Made in Japan” text, you can see it being lower quality when compared to a real card. Important note: These fakes that are circulating still have texture (fairly accurate at that too).
4️⃣ Card Stock Thickness
The card stock is thicker. Very hard to tell in pictures, but very easy to tell when you are holding and bending the card.
🛡️ Protect Yourself:
- Always compare suspicious cards to verified authentic copies
- Request detailed photos before purchasing high-value cards
- If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is…
