❤️ Favourite Customer Friday… with a twist.

Normally, Fridays are about our customers. But this week, it’s about the people who make Valley Graze possible. Our team.

I know I sound like a broken record talking about them, but they deserve it.

This week alone, we catered for 1,000 people on Wednesday, hosted two after hours events, ran our regular café, made Char-boo-terie boxes, juggled sick days and somehow kept smiling.

Behind the scenes, it’s not always pretty. We’re tired, we’re frustrated, we laugh, and some days we’re close to tears.

There are missed breaks, early mornings, late nights and people quietly picking up the slack.

And some days, I’m so caught up in the chaos that I forget to say thank you.

Without this team, there is no Valley Graze. Period.

So this Friday, we’re celebrating the people who show up, work hard and keep this little place going, even on the tough days.

And to our customers, thank you for your patience, kindness and for continuing to support us through the chaos. ❤️

Staffing. It’s hard. Really hard. ❤️

We’re a small team, and when staff are sick, we feel it.

We want our last customer to receive the same care and service as our first, but some days we’re simply stretched too thin.

Today we will be closing at 1 PM due to staff illness.

We’re doing our best, and we’re grateful for your patience and kindness. ❤️

Opening our doors to our new neighbours!

We’re excited to be providing the space for tomorrow evening’s Shovelnose Project Open House, hosted by Westhaven Dundee Joint Venture!

One of the things we love most about Valley Graze is being a place where our community can come together, connect, and have conversations.

Tomorrow evening, our neighbours will be sharing information about their gold and silver project located just south of Merritt.

We invite you to stop by, enjoy some light snacks and refreshments, meet the project team, and ask any questions you might have!

🏆 BUSINESS OF THE YEAR 2026 ❤️

The reality of owning a small business…

As I write this, I have 11 unanswered texts, overdue bills, a supply order I forgot to place, and I’m not even sure we have everything for tomorrow’s catering.

I forgot the gluten free bread, haven’t checked Messenger in a week, and have orders and phone calls waiting for replies.

And that’s just what I can remember. 😂

Some days, I feel like I’m failing at everything, constantly behind and wondering how I’ll keep it all together.

And then I look at these pictures.❤️

OUR TEAM.

The people who show up, work through the chaos, and pick up the pieces when I drop them.

They don’t just work for Valley Graze. They ARE Valley Graze.

There are so many important faces missing from this photo. Past and present, every one of you has helped build this little dream. You’ve put up with my crazy ideas, last minute plans, and probably a few meltdowns. 😂❤️ I wish you could all be standing here with us.

And a HUGE shout out to our chilli making queen, Michelle! ❤️ We love you!

I have to give a special mention to Linden and Autumn, the anchors of Valley Graze since day one! The two people who keep this ship steady when I’m spinning in a hundred directions. They carry so much on their shoulders, often without being asked, and I truly don’t know what I’d do without them.

People congratulate me on building a successful business, but the truth is, none of this would be possible without the incredible people who bring my ideas to life.

We didn’t win Business of the Year because we have it all figured out. We won because of people who genuinely care.

To our community, thank you for believing in us and recognizing this amazing team.

I might own Valley Graze, but my team is the heart of it. This award belongs to ALL of you. ❤️

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I really need to place that supply order. 😂

🧩 WELL… THAT GOT COMPETITIVE! 😂

Our FIRST Puzzle Night was a hit!

Six teams. 90 minutes. Hundreds of pieces. And apparently ZERO chill. 🤣

Sorting boxes and LAMPS were hauled in! Clearly some of you thought you were competing for an Olympic medal. 🥇😂

ONE team finished, while the others were OH SO CLOSE! We’re pretty sure a few friendships were tested.

Cheesecake, charcuterie, puzzles and a whole lot of laughs! 🍰🧀

Thank you to everyone who joined us! We absolutely LOVE bringing our community together. ❤️

🚨 FAVOURITE CUSTOMER FRIDAY MOST WANTED! 🚨

Meet Derek! 😂☕

Well, where do we even start with this character?

Let’s start with his breakfast. Three eggs. Sounds simple, right? WRONG. Apparently, there is only ONE person in all of Merritt qualified to prepare these eggs to Derek’s standards, and that person is Linden. 😂

In fact, Derek has officially made it in life because his breakfast order is actually saved in our system as “Derek’s Eggs.” We’re not sure if that’s an honour or a warning to the kitchen staff.

Now, Derek has a sense of humour that keeps us on our toes. He’s quick with a joke, even quicker with a smart ass comment, and never misses an opportunity to give us a hard time. Naturally, we return the favour.

But here’s what we really love about this guy.

Derek is one of those people who genuinely cares about his community. He checks in on people, looks out for others, and has a way of making sure everyone is doing okay. Let’s just say he’s pretty good at keeping an eye on things around town. 😉🚨

And underneath all that humour is a genuinely kind human who cares about the people around him.

🎄 Let’s Talk Christmas Catering! 🎄

We’ve received so many emails asking about Christmas dinners and holiday parties, and we truly appreciate you thinking of Valley Graze! ❤️

After chatting as a team, we’ve decided to step back from evening catering turkey and potatoes this Christmas season.

BUT here’s the beautiful thing about supporting local businesses! ❤️

Our neighbours down the street, Shelly’s Catering & Bannock, have put together some amazing Christmas menus! From traditional turkey dinners to roast beef, ham and homemade bannock, they’ve got you covered!

And you know what? We LOVE seeing other small businesses succeed. There’s plenty of room for all of us, and supporting each other is what makes our little community so special.

🎉 WELL… I’VE GONE AND MESSED UP!! 🤦‍♀️🤣

Somehow, I managed to miss Michele in our October birthday posts! And of ALL the people to forget, I picked the ONE woman I absolutely cannot afford to p$&! off!! 😂

WHY? Because this woman holds the SECRET RECIPE TO OUR CHILI!! 🌶️ And if you’ve read our Google reviews, you’ll know it’s been called the BEST chili in town! So basically, Michele has job security for LIFE. I’m not saying we’re being held hostage by a pot of chili… but I’m also not saying we’re not. 🤣

Michele is the SAVIOUR we didn’t know we needed! From emergency milk runs to the 472 times I’ve said, “Michele, can you make us some EXTRA CHILI?” This woman just keeps showing up and saving our butts!

And then there’s her personality…

This “young” lady (insert snort laugh here 🤭) has a comeback for EVERYTHING! She’s got more one liners than Dolly Parton had wigs, and trust me, that’s saying something! 😂

Between the Dolly jokes, the cheeky comments, and conversations that probably shouldn’t be repeated in public, she keeps us laughing!

Dolly may work 9 to 5, but Michele works whenever I run out of soup! 🤣

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICHELE!! 🥳❤️

We love you, we appreciate you, and I promise never to forget your birthday again! (Probably a lie, but I’m trying to save myself here!) 😂

This week is Small Business Week! ❤️

And it got me thinking… why do I care so much about supporting local small businesses and showcasing their talents?

Because for me, it’s personal.

There were years growing up when my mom supported my sister and I by selling her handmade creations.

What some people saw as just a handmade item was so much more to our family.

It was school supplies, a birthday surprise, or presents under the Christmas tree. It was my mom doing whatever she could to make sure her girls had what they needed.

And I’ve never forgotten that.

So when I see someone selling their homemade bread, candles, crafts, artwork, or anything they’ve poured their heart into, I see more than just a product.

I see someone’s hard work. I see their courage. I see a family they might be trying to provide for. I see my mom. ❤️

That’s why I love showcasing our local makers, bakers, creators, and small businesses. You never know the story behind someone’s little business or what your purchase might mean to their family.

It’s so easy these days to jump on Amazon, or head out of town. And I get it! But sometimes we forget about the incredible talent right here in Merritt.

With Christmas around the corner, I encourage everyone to think local first.

You might just be helping someone put a little magic under their Christmas tree this year.

So let’s celebrate our local makers, bakers, artists, creators, and entrepreneurs!
