One of my favourite things to do with my daughters is to make these veggie and herb dyed eggs for Easter. We did everything together…shopped for the supplies, foraged for the leaves, collected some flowers scraps from the studio, and then made the dye baths.

Just the act of slowing down and creating each egg is so calming, and a gift to the nervous system.
We let them soak overnight, all of us looking forward to the big reveals in the morning.
This really allowed the dyes to saturate and we got such beautiful, rich colours!

This year we created six colours:
Purple cabbage-blue
Onion skins-deep orange/amber
Beets-pink
Turmeric-yellow
Hibiscus-dark grey
Hibiscus and turmeric-dark green

Yes, it takes a little more time than those little synthetic dye capsules… But trust me, it’s worth it!
