So Fan Expo was a...thing. Craziness. Here's some random takeaways:
Number of copies sold of Terminal, MASK, GI Joe (current)? Zero. Same number of people asking for them. 2 copies of Void Rivals sold. Transformers did slightly better but it was DWJ copies, not Kirkman.
Number of Spider-Man #1 (1990) sold? All of them. I had 10 of them, mixed amongst the various covers - every one sold over the 4 days.
X-Men got hit hard, both Uncanny AND the V.2 Jim Lee stuff. If I had 100 copies of a cover where Rogue & Gambit were kissing, I would have sold them all and still not had enough.
Very few requests for Invincible. I don't read much into that other than it's between seasons, come March it'll be red hot again.
Absoute Batman is a beast. The people talking about "bubbles" and "this is a fad" don't know anything and aren't in the middle of it. New demo (18-22) loving a new Batman, they don't much care about printings - just a cool cover so they can read it. Who IS insisting on high grade 1st prints? Those same folks calling b.s on the quality of the book and screaming "bubble". Don't understand the "hate", we desperately need new readers.
Few people were walking around looking to sell anything, and those that did wanted 80% of FMV....it was...odd.
Being busy means you rarely leave your booth which means you don't really spend much money. Thankfully Kristian Bowie Lorenzo Giura Larry and Matt Scott were there and covered so I could go meet Kaare Andrews, Tom King & Kevin McGuire (pics to come)
Next up and last of the season is Ottawa Comic Con Sept 11. Hope to see y'all there!
