What are your upcoming making plans? With the warmer weather and road trip possibilities it is great to have a couple of embroidery kits on hand for when you want to jump into making and not worry about gathering supplies.
Hook, Line & Tinker Embroidery Kits are made in Wolfville, Nova Scotia and hand-crafted in small batches at their home-based studio. Capture the the lilting "yodel" call of the loon in embroidery during a calm evening on the lake sitting next to a campfire. This reflective pattern is first time beginner friendly.
Their Blue Jay pattern has a unique tonal palette of 3 bold colours and features a sampler combination of satin, link, chain, French knot, and back stitch. Designed in Hook Line & Tinker's signature modern, Scandi / Nordic inspired folk style.
The limited colour palette and use of recurring motifs is purposeful - finished hoops hang well as mix-and-match groupings and tell a cohesive story within a theme. Some patterns are easy-peasy first time friendly, others are for ambitious beginners. But all allow for creativity, experimentation, and of course...calm.

Did you manage to snap up one of the limited edition handmade seam rippers by Wüd Envy back in fall? As soon we saw them, we knew our community would appreciate the care, craft, and beauty in these tools.
Turn your Wüd Envy Seam Ripper into a stiletto with their add on Stiletto Tool! Perfect to use when working on your applique projects and keeping seams accurate.
Use it to turn your seam allowances for different applique methods and guide seams through your sewing machine and more.
These hand-turned seam rippers crafted from wood and hand-poured acrylic are each completely unique and we have the final one in stock. They feel just as good in the hand as they look and they make the act of unpicking (just a little) more enjoyable.

During Me Made May we are on a mission to finish up some Me Made projects before the month is over. This week, Karyn shared her new Capstone Pattern Co. Juniper Tank in Cobalt Linen from Merchant & Mills.
The finishing details on this tank are so thoughtful - it is completely lined and reversible offering you the opportunity to have one top in two fabrics. The designer, Laura Fullerton, is based in Dundas Ontario and we featured her on our shop blog not too long ago in our Person Behind Series.
We've included all the Capstone Patterns and woven labels in our weekend preorder that closes today Monday May 25 at midnight. Which Capstone Pattern Co. pattern will you be making?!

In our final session of the May Mending Challenge on Monday May 25 from 7pm- 8pm EST we are exploring repairing Seams and Hems either by hand stitching or machine repair including split seams, ladder stitch, slip stitch, re-hemming. All the fixes that make a garment wearable again.
The video replays and notes from our first three sessions are posted inside our online space The Workroom Studio so you can still join us!
This mending challenge is a chance for you to set aside just an hour a week to focus on fixing and repairing any special items you've got that need some love. Participants are encouraged to share their mending tips, process and questions inside the community space for this challenge so we can all learn from each other. This bi-monthly series is part of our 2026 Year of Intentional Making.
The May Mending Challenge is Free for members of our online Studio members

the workroom community is full of so many amazing makers! Meet community member Dilys! Explorer of craft "from scratch", lover of print and colour, a committed volunteer and bird call aficionado.
"I enjoyed making the Harlene Overalls in Karyn’s class because 1) I haven’t made the same garment with multiple other people since we all made ill-fitting dresses in grade 9 Home Ec, and it was fascinating to see other people’s choices, and 2) because it was really interesting and useful to see how Karyn approached various steps and techniques, and the tools that she used to accomplish them."
To learn more about Dilys, the colourful fleece jackets she made for her kids, her appreciation for the inside of garments, a stretch terry swimsuit she made as a teenager and her how volunteering at Toronto Repair Café changed her own views of what is wearable check out the full profile in The Workroom Studio, our online membership community.

Earlier this week, Karyn shared an IG Reel of her newest Merchant & Mills Shepherd Skirt in Bella Stripe Cocoa. The Bella line of fabrics are a lovely linen/rayon blend that have a squishy texture that is really nice to work with.
Bella Stripe 2 is the next generation with a wider stripe width and a curated summery colour palette. The new Bella Check is a mini check, similar in scale to the original Bella Stripe. We've got a very short Community Preorder set up this weekend for Bella Stripe 2, Bella Check, Cairo Linen and Porter Organic Cottons.
If you're signed up for one of our summer workshops this is a great opportunity to pick fabric for those projects or some other warm weather sewing you have planned.
The Community Preorder for these fabrics is discounted by 10% until Monday May 25th at midnight. Members of our online community, the workroom studio can use their member code for an additional 10% off.

Thanks to our pals Nadia & James, who helped design the perfect custom Grid Guide with five windows for the Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt pattern they have now added custom quarter inch marks for measuring your seams.
We've put a lot of thought and preparation into the Community Flower Branch Embroidery Quilt Sew Along. Part of that includes remembering how helpful it is to have a little Grid Guide with windows to focus in on the specific section you're sewing. Not only does the Grid Tool have five different sized windows the new quarter inch markings help you to quickly measure your seam allowances accurately.
If you're registered for the Sew Along, we've started posting inside the online community space about tools, supplies and updates. There is still a little time to place a last minute order for your final supplies. We hope you will join us!
