The Strut Life Let me de-influence you. Stop buying s**t you don’t need. Style > Trends
🏋🏻‍♀️ Strength + sanity, not punishment. Supporting businesses that matter

02/06/2026

I’ve spent a lot of time talking about overconsumption, fast fashion and buying with more intention.

But… it’s not enough to just tell people what not to buy from Shein 😆

I also want to help people discover businesses that are genuinely doing things well.

I’ve run a small business myself. I know what it feels like to wear every hat, work ridiculous hours and still try and find time to market yourself and fight the algorithm.

So this week I’ll be shining a spotlight on some of the small businesses whose products I’ve genuinely loved.

All of them used, tested, researched and basically just good businesses that deserve to be seen.

And I’d love your help.

👇 Tag a small business you think deserves a shout-out below.

Whether it’s a local shop, maker, artist, service provider or online business, let’s help some good people get discovered in the comments thread as well! 🫶🏻🩷🫶🏻

I don’t care about the latest “must-have” find.

I’m more interested in:

• Why we buy things we don’t need
• Why women are constantly marketed to through their insecurities
• Helping women understand their style so they stop making expensive mistakes
• Supporting small businesses trying to survive in a world of billion-pound corporations
• Calling out manipulative marketing when I see it

Am I anti-shopping?

Nope!

I bloody love clothes!! I love style. I love finding something that makes you feel amazing!

But I want women buying because they WANT to.

Not because an algorithm, influencer or countdown timer convinced them they should.

If you’ve found your way here through a SHEIN rant, an influencer takedown or a style post…

Welcome.

This is what I’m actually about.

I genuinely thought influencer culture was mostly people chasing freebies and pretending to love things for commission.

Then I accidentally ended up inside it 😅

Aaaaannddd…. Some of it is WILD.

There are amazing small businesses just trying to get visibility and honest word of mouth 🫶🏻 I’ll always happily support those.

But there’s also a whole side people don’t see:
scripted reels,
usage rights,
manufactured hype,
fake urgency,
“gifted” collaborations that are basically unpaid ad campaigns 👀

I’m still figuring it all out as I go, but one thing I won’t do is pretend to be obsessed with something just because it landed in a PR box.

So if I share something… it’s because I actually like it, I’ve researched it, I find it interesting,
or think it’s worth talking about.

And if something’s bulls**t?
I’ll definitely tell you that too 😆

Happy to help de influence you 🫶🏻

All I can do is apologise to any brands that expect aesthetic content because you won’t find that here 🤣🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

It’s been a long day today 🤣
I did however really enjoy a and soda with fresh raspberries in the garden 🫶🏻

I don’t drink alcohol at home so I massively appreciate an “adult drink” and it definitely hit the spot in this heat. 😅

Intentional shopping isn’t about never buying anything again only buying expensive ethical pieces that still don’t feel like you.

It’s about stopping the cycle of buying loads of random s**t… then still feeling like you’ve got nothing to wear 😵‍💫 👀

Most women haven’t ever been taught to understand their personal style (and that itself can come at a premium ££)

We’ve just been thrown into trend cycles, haul culture, style rules and influencer marketing designed to keep us constantly buying.

So we end up with wardrobes full of impulse buys, stuff that looked good on someone else
and things we bought for our fantasy life 😆

That’s why I’m creating The Strut Style Rebels. 🖤

To help women make less shopping mistakes, understand what actually suits them and build wardrobes that genuinely feel good to wear.

We’ll cover:
Style personality
body shape
outfit formulas
styling principles
colours
confidence
and shopping with actual intention instead of dopamine chasing chaos 🤣

And also PERMISSION to be yourself!! Not build a bland AF capsule wardrobe 😜

FREE group support along the way.

Early bird spots are £27 before launch.

Comment REBEL and I’ll send you the link 🖤

Shorts are NOTORIOUSLY tricky, especially if you’re heavier on the hips and thighs like me.

But 3 years ago I just thought “I want to wear shorts” and I actually don’t care if people think “oh she’s got big legs” because that sounds like their problem 🤭😆

Finding the right ones can be hard work but once you’ve found ones that work, just repeat the same variations.

If you’re a classic personality- go for more tailored but the same principles apply.

Size UP one or two sizes.
Wear a belt
Add an over layer
Don’t let the shorts cut off mid thigh or cling

We all deserve comfort when it’s hot.

Wear the shorts! 🫶🏻🫶🏻

The hate campaign resumes! 😂

If you’ve even been on these websites you’ll see how much they suck you in and before you know it, you have a basket FULL of stuff you hadn’t even considered buying before.

That’s them working their magic into manipulating you into buying more than what you need… that is NOT intentional shopping. It’s exactly how over consumption and overproduction thrives.

If you’ve bought from these websites before, tell me honestly- did you just buy the item you went on there for?

They got you good! (And me!)

I feel like I need to say this before I go deeper into this SHEIN series 😅👇🏼

I genuinely do NOT want to make ordinary women feel like s**t.

Shopping out of necessity isn’t what I’m talking about-
Kids grow constantly.
Budgets are tight.
Plus-size options can feel limited.
Living has become ridiculously expensive.
And social media feeds us trends, aesthetics and “must haves” RELENTLESSLY.

So this conversation is not about pretending everyone should suddenly start buying £120 ethically handmade linen trousers 😆

But I also think we need to acknowledge how emotional shopping has become.

A lot of us aren’t just buying clothes because we physically need clothes.

We buy because:
- we want confidence
- comfort
- dopamine
- reinvention
- to fit in
- to feel current
- to feel better

And fashion companies KNOW that.

That’s why overconsumption has become so normalised.

We’re constantly being sold the idea that a new version of ourselves is sitting in the checkout basket.

This series is really about:
- awareness
- understanding our habits
- questioning marketing
- slowing down where we can
- and realising we probably need less than we think we do.

I’m saying this as someone who used to constantly buy new things too. I’m not speaking from some morally superior mountain top here 🤣 and I still feel the pressure and acknowledge it.

I’ve just realised over time that the less I consume, the more creative and connected I actually become with my own style.

Anyway… that’s my little two pence for today.

SHEIN hate will resume tomorrow 😌✌🏼

This could’ve been an hour long video 🤣 but I wanted to highlight these two points on why I morally cannot allow myself to support this company.

There’s lots of large companies with very shady morals… which others do you boycott and why?
