Sometimes new beginnings are a little….awkward ☺️ and the last few days have been all about squeezing in to make those last minute alternations and touches to make this space a Second Life space… you will not be disappointed!!

It’s looking so perfect, so many things reused and repurposed, all your favourite things have been made a space for. And we’ve enjoyed the process of curating the best version of who we have become, all with tremendous help from our close community of volunteers, staff, directors and friends.

The countdown has begun… 6 days until opening!

A tear was shed today as we see our current shop slowly emptying 😢

This beautiful space has been so good to us, full of so many memories of laughter, singing, the joy of finding something wonderful, the joy of seeing someone buy something you donated, the long hours, the valiant volunteers always supporting, and the good vibe of knowing we do it all for Forest Row.

One thing is true, all these joys will be coming with us into our new space which is looking incredible….

But, this stock will not! Grab it whilst you can…everything must go in our 50% off sale!! Half of a bargain is a steal. Thank you for your every increasing support.

EXCITING NEWSFLASH👏🏼

We’ve had yet another mention in the national press! For those new to us, we have already been featured twice in the Guardian, once in Woman and Home, and have been the focus of a Cafe Hope episode (BBC Radio 4).

🎤 YESTERDAY (4/9/26), Second Life was featured on BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour. During a great piece on charity shops, a member of our community gave us a lovely shout-out.

The feature highlighted the everyday challenges charity shops face with donations, including the vital reminder that shops don't have built-in laundries, so items should always be clean before donating! It was also a fantastic validation of our approach to disposing of our RAG: rejecting waste colonialism and ensuring as many items as possible find new homes directly within our local community.

Whether you are sorting donations or helping on the shop floor, you are an essential part of this effort to reduce waste. Once the book mentioned in the broadcast is out in paperback (or if a copy is donated!), we will add it to our Second Life Eco Library for everyone to read.

✨ We’ve been in the spotlight! ✨

We’re absolutely delighted to have been featured in Woman & Home, sharing the story of how Second Life began, and the incredible community of people who have helped bring it to life.

What started in 2022 with a small group of Forest Row friends and neighbours determined to save our local recycling facilities has grown into so much more than a shop.

It’s a story about community, creativity, sustainability and the belief that things deserve a second chance.

From our wonderful volunteers and trustees, to the people who donate, shop, repair, create and champion what we do - Second Life belongs to all of us.

As one of our founders, Kate, says in the article:

“We’re like a huge family determined to reuse things.”

And we think that sums it up beautifully. ❤️

We’re incredibly proud of how far we’ve come and even more excited about where we’re going next.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of our story so far. This is only the beginning. 🌱

As you may know, we’re getting ready to move to our new Second Life home! 🏡✨

To help us prepare for the move, we’re no longer able to accept donations from 28th August at our current Hartfield Road premises. But please don’t stop collecting those wonderful pre-loved treasures!

Our new Second Life home is coming to life! 🩷

Our fantastic team of volunteers have been hard at work preparing our new premises for our imminent move and we couldn't be more excited!

There has been so much excitement around the village, and we can't wait to open the doors and welcome you all into our new Second Life home very soon.

We continue to be completely blown away by the enthusiasm, energy and support our amazing volunteers have given throughout this move. We couldn't do it without you! 🩷
